Thank you Karl for your message, unfortunately there wasn't much that I could do as far as the asymmetry, it was a spur of the moment capture and as with most street photography there is only a split second to compose the scene. I am pleased that you like the colours, the RAW image was processed in the lightroom program. |

Personally I would rather the original image, whenever I look at a street image where there is a main subject such as the stall and lady in this image, I like to see where the subject is located and It's surroundings. Perhaps just slight darkening of the red sign and red box to the right hand side, but otherwise I am happy with the setting. |

Interesting point of view, rather than the normal front of food stall. The viewers attention is concentrated onto the main subject of the counter top with the help of the shopkeeper's face gazing onto the table.
I think I would have waited a while, in case a customer was to visit the food stall, this would have added more interest to the image.
I like the colour of the equipment and bottles that are on the table.
A good and well captured scene.....colin |

many thanks for your visit and comment Stephen, yes, the group have certainly jelled and I am so lucky to be a part of the group. This is only the first month and already I have learnt so much.
With regards to the fingernails, my good wife tell's me that she doesn't think it relates solely to a particular country but is just a choice of style.
Thank's again Stephen....colin |

Hi Richard, I agree, we can learn so much from each other's views on each other's images.
I also agree that there is a need to adjust the image through the usual lighting, darkening, contrast in order to direct one's attention to the subject.
Apart from the rules of various Salons and competitions, my thought of not adding or removing parts of an image only applies to 'street photograph'. It is the rule that most street photographers abide by and is accepted in most street photography sites.
Apart form nature I would most definitely consider adding or removing items in order to improve the image. Thanks for your message. |

A good choice of black and white. You have captured the action so well, this image could well be a part of a horror movie, but when you look more closely, you can not only see a smile on the person in front but also a slight smile on the person's face in the background. From horror movie to Love Story.
Your fast shutter speed has produced a sharp image.
I would have liked to see less of a pin-hole vignetting, but that's my take.
Great image and story. |

Hi Hattie, thanks for your comment, with regards to the arch on the left hand side, I totally agree that it is a distraction from the main subject. I do not remove or add anything to a street photograph, even litter, because what I see is what the viewer will see, but to slightly darken that area will help. I was unlucky really because cropping the image would have worked but would have removed part of the writing on the wall ..Thanks.

Bill, whoever told you about Borough Market food is spot on. The street food is amazing with a great choice. I had the scotch egg, with sweet potato fries and brownies for dessert....amazing and at a reasonable cost.
I got down low for this shot. I didn't want the lady's face to appear in the image. I very much like to get close to my subjects, that is why I use a wide angle lens Thanks. |

Richard, many thanks for comment, with regards to the camera position, with the Fujifilm XT2 there is an adjustable screen. I was on my knees with the camera held lower to me with the tilted screen facing upwards, about 1ft from the ground. I often take images from this angle, I find it is different from the norm. In hindsight I should have named this image 'blue suede shoes'. I believe that titles are just as important as the images. Thanks. |

Thank you so much Barbara for your kind words, I always try and find a street scene that tell's a story. I much appreciate your advice on the cloning at R/H side wall area. I totally agree, it would certainly improve the image. The one thing that I am a bit uncomfortable with is that the hand holding the chopsticks looks as if it is protruding from the lady's leg but because there was a crowd watching the musician, I could not move to my left hand side....colin |

The chopped off heads is fine with me, all the interest is surrounding the dog and the beam of sunlight.
An advantage to the image is that only the dog is looking at the camera which makes the image more natural.
Interesting to note that the person at the end of the dog's lead has not yet entered the image which add's to the story of the image. Well seen and well captured.
Love the title. |

I very much like the similarity of the red shopping bag in the foreground and the beaker on the table.
Your granddaughter's face is a sharp reflection placed in the ideal position between the seated subjects as if listening to their conversation adding a story to the image.
Perhaps a slight dark vignetting would help to just very slightly darken the television screen at the top left hand corner of the image.
Lots going on in the image and the more you look the more people you see.
A very interesting and well captured image. |
