While an unexpected choice to fulfill this months topic, it is nicely balanced with the glass of beer providing a counter-weight to the house in the background. The ashtray in the mid-ground area fills up the table area. My eye immediately goes to the un-focused glass of beer, but quickly passes it to the area of focus which happens to be the empty ashtray. Possibly the addition of a smoking cigarette would add to the you're message. Enjoy the new part of your life when you get to be more relaxed! I'm jealous! |

This speeding boat certainly fulfills the topic this month of Adult Toy! Nice! The colors are great with the white speeding boat accentuated with the red/yellow stripe against the blue water. Nice panning job keeping the people pretty sharp while blurring the water and background. I've yet to master this skill. Possible a speck more room in the front of the boat for someplace to move into - although hard to do when moving in a pan. I think a little crop off the bottom helps pull the people in the boat down into the lower third of the photo. |

How fortunate for these volunteers to be able to enjoy their hobby for driving locomotives! Paul had a great comment about the tracks that I hadn't consciously seen myself on first view, but the tracks allows one to move into the photo. Love the capture of the steam poring from the stack. Nice detail in the engine itself. Because of the top sky and bottom sand are so bright a slight vignette may help in keeping your eye in the photo. |

When trying to subject matter to fulfill this month's challenge, I honestly didn't think of miniatures or modelling. What a wonderful surprise! The use of blurring bring my eye exactly to the subject, further enhance by being surrounded by the colorful, striped awning. Use of the rule of thirds when placing the person on the right 1/3rd added to the image. |

Hi Tim,
I reviewed your picture prior to reading Barbara and Paul's comments and agree with them. Attached is my effort to implement some of the comments. I cropped in tight to focus only the car. A couple of other adjustments (in Lightroom) included a gradient at the bottom to darken the street. Toned down the highlights, added some clarity via the slider. The subject matter is a good find, love the blue/green colors! |
