Amazing how you found this little bird sitting!!! I love the contrast of the green and red, but the bird does get lost amongst all the shrubbery and I feel that Karl's done a terrific job...and quite a simple one.....of bringing the attention onto the bird alone. The image is retained and we can now appreciate his environment, but the star of the show pops and commands centre stage. Well captured! |

Hi Karl...this one certainly gives rise to some thought. I struggle to see the clouds as the extremely strong face and unsettling eyes command my total attention. His/her face is very unsettling. The clouds and the face are a complete juxtaposition, but I just can't get involved with the clouds...the face commands my attention and draws me immediately away. A rather provocative image! |

Hi Sandra...lovely bright colours...the autumn leaves are just glorious aren't they! Great idea.
However, I think this image would have been more effective - for me - had the Fruits of the Fall been more in focus and separated from the leaves. As it is, they blend together and I struggle to differentiate the shapes. I would have loved to have seen more of the wonderful colours on the corn (or is it maize?) and I am not clear on the nature of the purplish leaves. The subject has become the green and yellow squash in the front and this goes out of focus at the stem too. I wonder if you could have shot the still life items so that they were sharp and then blurred out the leaves that you didn't want sharp, in post production?? |

Hi May...thank you for sharing. I always look forward to your images. In this one, I'm not clear on what the title means nor how the scene portrays a lifestyle that is obviously Parisian. Perhaps I am missing the subtleties. Maybe it is the scooter...or the lights??
Titles are generally regarded as important in art...ideally, they should compliment the work, narrate the nature of it, allow the viewer to understand it better, give hints as to what the artist or photographer was conveying......I think, if I could understand the meaning of your title, I would perhaps have understood the feeling you were wanting to share, a little better.
Interesting, as ever, May. |

Hi Judith....a well intentioned image, but I have to agree with everything Karl has said. Poor Tattered has his tail cut off as well. I think you should try some more of these as the effect in B&W could be quite interesting if the composition worked a little better. Butterflies (and bees - I often try to get interesting images of my bees, but as yet, no luck) are hugely challenging and patience is an absolute must! |
