I must say that I have never seen an artichoke in flower either!
Nice image Lauren. It's a lovely angle and looks nice and sharp. The purple stands out against the green providing contrast. To be picky, I probably would have cloned out the yellow stripe on the left and the wayward stamen on the right.
There's a lot of green in the background which takes away from the definition of the flower itself. Perhaps the flower could have been removed from the background in PhotoShop using that wonderful Quick Selection tool (another background could have been dropped in) or perhaps the green behind the flower could have been desaturated a little, thus allowing the green of the flower to stand out more. Or perhaps you could just leave it as it is :-) |

Hi Karl...another cracker from you! Lots of imagination.....I guess you visualise something and then plan how to composite the idea.....or does it come to you as you go?
It is indeed a very grand entrance! The colours work very well. Would your model have had a little tinge of green or red....??? I wonder how long it took you to put this together? |

Lovely Marie! Aren't they just delicious to photograph! Lots of texture and pattern.
I love these big, happy fellows in colour, but I like what you have done in post...a completely different look...perhaps reflecting the remaining days of the bloom as well. I think I would have tidied up the extraneous leaves as I find them quite distracting, particularly at the bottom of the image....a vignette could possibly help and save a lot of post production time removing them. Perhaps just a little touch of contrast??? Had a little play, but it is quite a different look...perhaps I could have adjusted the opacity. Overall, a delightful image. |

What fun Sandra! Gorgeous colours and you've learned another skill!! So exciting to experiment, isn't it!
Maybe as you move to the next step, perhaps think a little about composition. At present the eye has nowhere to rest and scuds across the waves backwards and forwards, perhaps tending to latch onto the irregular blue patches momentarily.
However, it is still a pleasing work.

Hi May....another of your trademark black and whites! I have to agree with Marie re the old couple effect. They do look as if they are rather spritely for their seniority. Lots of lovely grey tones, but the over exposed areas are a bit distracting and I think it would have been preferable to have a little of the other person's legs showing so it is identifiable as a human. Their shadow looked as if it may have held promise too. Another interesting May image! |

Hi Judith.......not sure about this one. My screen is showing some dark areas so maybe I'm missing something. To me, I don't see any composition. Interesting story though :-) Marie's idea of using it as a layer could give some rather interesting results with all those tones there. I hope your sprite is still comfortably in residence!
