An amazing piece of graffiti Lauren! I love graffiti.....so many stories...so much talent.....social comment etc. Yes, it would be interesting to know the answers to Stephen's questions. It's also very interesting to know the relationships and the hierarchy etc that takes place between the graffiti artists themselves. There are rules and etiquette!
I guess your image, Lauren, takes us into the realm of what is acceptable in photographing graffiti. I can't make any comment of your image as it's an image of another's work.
I think the commonly acceptable rule of thumb is something like 50% of your photo should be your own work. Love to hear what others think here as I often like to include graffiti in my photography as well. I like to show the neighbourhoods, the artists or perhaps, light or even use it as a background for portraits. |

An interesting thought Karl, but not sure that the idea quite works as I see the flower in isolation. It has a different texture and looks as if it has been added into the image. Perhaps the hands facing upward as if to offer the creation, may have helped....I'm not sure. Yes, I think Marie has some valid comments there and like her idea of perhaps a stem from the frame for connection of some sort.
Always interesting to see what you're going to create next! |

Demari certainly has a baby glow! Lovely detail in her face and her crown of flowers. How beautifully you have portrayed her!
Unfortunately my screen is showing the dress and detail of her hands as quite blown out. This is drawing my eye and I feel it detracts from the lovely image you have composed.
The vignette, for me, is a little strong as well. I would have preferred a softer graduation.
Apart from that Marie, I think you have captured a lovely image. |

An interesting idea Judith and I like the thoughts behind the making of this image. Great title too. Love it!
I'm not so sure about the composition though, as I don't feel there is a lot of balance and for me, the blown out whites on the left and right have my eyes flicking backward and forward between them. I think I need to see a little more of what the subject is to appreciate the idea fully. My first impression was steps or a piano.
You've certainly got an eye for what's going on around you!

An interesting image May......a very interesting choice of subject and dress. I like the sepia as it suits the old fashioned look of your model. Focus, however, seems a little soft. Watch detail too, when you set your subject up. Note the concrete join coming out of your model's head and the black lining on the right side of the dress poking through.
I'm not sure I understand the title as you model seems to be offering more than securing??? Perhaps you have another meaning in mind. |
