Hi Karl.....a lovely pose. I enjoyed the image very much. Interesting with what to me, is a bit of a juxtaposition between the tattoos and nature.....I find the foreground is very busy though, quite distracting and not essential to the image. Perhaps clone all those bits and pieces out? To me, it's about the figure, the containing ripples, the contrast in form between the straight reed and body curves and of course, the light and the reflection. To be honest, I really love the black and white version that Judith has proposed. The light is quite stunning and perhaps using curves in PShop, could be made even more contrasty, letting your model really come to the fore. Well done. You have something quite special here. |

Hi Marie
Happy Birthday! What an interesting project....like Judith, would love to see some of your other images for this too!
I like the concept of this image with the flag and prayer, but agree with Judith that the title is an absolute necessity to understanding the image. The ominous black on the left suggests an evil force, but perhaps this could be part of the overall concept?
The black rectangle is distracting and the overexposure without detail, on the right of the hands, draws the eye. Overall though, a fascinating image and a concept well worth exploring!!! Val

Hi Sandra.....what an interesting image! I really like the colours. The spot can easily be cloned out or filled. Isn't it wonderful that photography is infinite.....there is always so much more to be explored. I have mentioned Eva Polak before, I think, to Judith. She's a NZer who does some wonderful Impressionist work. https://evapolak.com
Keep up your experiments! Lovely.

Hi Judith...an intriguing little story! I like that you've chosen black and white as colour is not necessary here. Good that you've flipped the image to allow the eye to read it more easily too. I wonder if darkening the top left and lower corners would have added a little more mystery? Just a thought. Maybe a little more detail (tatty zips) could have been left in the shoes to give clues as to their owner? Overall, I think you've achieved a nice contrasty B&W with a mystery included! |

Hi all....sorry, a case of more haste less speed! I hadn't completed the transform layer and that is what you are seeing. Was in a hurry and thought I'd done it previously. Thanks for the positive comments. Val |
