79 Aug 19 Comment Thanks everyone for the positive and constructive comments. I had not heard of Andrew Wyeth and was very interested to wander through his artworks. What a wonderful and unique style he has!

I really enjoy reading the posted comments and following up the different suggestions, exploring new techniques and discovering new photographers/artists!

79 Aug 19 Comment Hi Sandra

Lots of fun experimenting with camera motion and you have lots of colours here which are rather delicious! Great choice of angle too!

The light area at the top right pulls the eye, so I would be tempted to crop this and the dark area in the centre bothers me a little as I am not sure why it's there or what it's meant to be.

Have a look at Eva Polak's impressionist photography if you get a moment. She often uses Lensbabies, but also uses camera blur to achieve some very lovely results.

Keep up the good work!

79 Aug 19 Comment Hi Judith

Aren't some accidents just delightful! Beautiful colours and lovely bokeh. Marie's idea could work as well, and wonder if even flipping the image horizontally, allowing the butterfly to fly left to right....? Focussing on the stunning amber tones and the greens by removing the blue could be another option, but it is also terrific as it is.
Wonderful accident!

79 Aug 19 Comment Hi Susan

Another very positive response coming your way. I love this. The background flower is quite a mystery and adds tension I feel. I see this as not your usual beautiful flower artwork, but something a lot more complex, even slightly threatening. I like the space and see that it would work with Karl's crop, but I think this version does give that looming background flower some space to move. A quite textured paper, I think, would definitely be wonderful, adding to the impact of the texture layer you have added.
If I was to be critical of anything it would be the anthers. Could they have been a little more concentrated perhaps? The singles at the lower left, right lower, and under the petal seem like spots at first glance.
Really enjoyed this image! Great work!

79 Aug 19 Reply Thanks Ian. I tried dropping in another gloomy sky with more detail, but it made it all too busy and changed the mood. I think, as both you and Marie say, leaving it as is, is probably the way to go. Aug 5th
79 Aug 19 Comment Am with the others on this one Karl. A highly imaginative and creative piece. Gosh, you come up with all sorts of ideas! Congratulations!!! Aug 5th

79 Aug 19 Comment Hi Marie..a beautiful image! I love the colours and the composition! I wonder if it's possible to bring some detail out in the dark area below the flower. On my screen it is just a large black patch and a little distracting. Also, I realise that it's a twilight image, but because the lotus is the main subject, wondering if lightening the yellow area in shadow, just a little, would bring it to life a little more. Just enough to "pop" it a little without losing the twilight feel. Possibly a light vignette to tone down the left top? Have popped in a very quick edit using curves. See what you think. It's a lovely image either way. Aug 5th
