Thanks Karl. Appreciate the time you have taken to do this. I agree, it is very effective. I like them both.
The Atacama is truly a photographer's paradise. I would love to go back. There are truly awesome landscapes! Love to see some of your images of this area! |

Lovely composition Susan. I love shooting doors and this one has it all; texture, age, mystery. I see what you are trying to do, but worry that perhaps, as it is, it looks a little like just an overexposed image. I wonder if a little darker detail could have been left in the door/door handles and perhaps the exposed brick area and even the ivy. It could then still fade out toward the edges in a high key manner. I would be tempted to crop the dried ivy at the top as I don't think it adds anything. Maybe just a curves layer could give that little more detail and texture. Just a thought..... |

This is an interesting image and very strong with all the angles. The trouble is my eye is flicking backward and forward from the red subject to the top of your very strong leading lines. I think I would be tempted to leave him out. I do agree with Marie's comments.
I just love the angles and the lighting and the mysterious buildings in the background Karl. It's all quite alien. I feel there's certainly enough interest there without the man in red; somehow he starts defining the scene...without him, it's more of an unknown.
Otherwise, a great image and one it sounds as if you had a lot of fun taking! |

Gorgeous image Marie! Soft, dreamy...just lovely! I love the second flower too, softer again, but still with the lovely peony detail. I think it's perfect. I must look up Topaz....haven't heard of it. ....and what's a lightpad? |

This is a really interesting composite! It would make a great book cover! I love what you've done and feel that the light is perfect. (Would the figure have more of a shadow?) Definitely mysterious and I'm not sure that it needs anything further....wondering why you a feeling that? A swirl of mist?? I think you have set the scene enough to let imagination take over. I wonder if you need that tree on the far right....just feel that perhaps the three of them are competing with the subject?? Love to know how you did it. I haven't come to terms with composites yet. |

Hahaha...that was Marie making those comments. It was a wonderful story, wasn't it!
Gosh, this is an image which could serve as a basis for many scenarios! Wonderfully moody and very well seen! If it was me, I would be inclined to tone down the bright yellow areas just a little as they detract from your clandestine figures. You could also play with overall colour in the image to emphasis a particular scene although it's just fine as it is. I really like it! |
