Thanks Karl!! You are spot on. Am enjoying your perspectives!
Correction:
Apologies everyone; I have just checked my images and this one WAS zoomed. It was a day of experiments and mainly of double exposures, but this particular one was actually zoomed. |

Hi Karl - a very appropriate title!
For some reason, I see a leaf floating in space!
A really interesting shot and I love the wonderful textures of the leaf vers the more blurred ice patterns. The effect is quite surreal. Can you bring the exposure up on the dark part of the left a little? It would be great to see a hint of detail here. The top left looks very black and my eye keeps going to it. This could be my monitor though, so ignore my comment if so.

Hi Anurada - it sounds like you have some wonderful subject matter around you!!! How exciting to be a few feet away from an elephant and having your camera at hand!!
I like the idea of capturing her eye and wondering what she was feeling. My monitor is showing the image as quite dark. If it actually is, can I suggest you lighten the eye and surrounds and even bring that wonderful skin texture up a bit too. If it's my monitor, please disregard my comment.
An interesting image. Well captured! |

Beautiful subject Judith! I can see why you were drawn to it. Very appropriate title too. I think you've done a great job with post processing and the vignette works nicely.
There is a lot going on in the image, however, and I wonder if it would be worthwhile focussing on a juxtaposition of the lace and satin - the network of the sepal versus the smooth veins of the petals - in a more macro version? Another area that you have captured nicely are the gentle shadows and curves of the textured petals which could also stand on their own.
Flower photography is such fun, isn't it!!! A friend and I were photographing spring blooms over the weekend and got to looking at websites for inspiration. We came across some images by Mo Devlin who does frozen flowers and Kathleen Clemons who doesn't. Both quite different and well worth having a look at.

Hi Mary.....really love the idea of the image. In the original the red dancer is quite stunning and stands beautifully on her own....a girl caught up in the feeling of the moment. I think she loses impact in black and white, but having said that, the idea of the two together, focussing on their dreamy movements may work. Like you, I feel potential and feel that adding the skirt was definitely a great idea. Gosh, you've done a great job on that!
The floorboards and gravel draw my eye as they are sharp and the dancers not. Similarly the wallpaper and the lines. Maybe a shaft of light could work???
If it were me, I think I would go with the red dancer in colour and that lovely moody background. However, you're not me and I know you can work magic with your images. Would love to see what you end up doing! |

Hi Susan...wow, what an interesting image! I really like what you're doing here....the painterly effect a little Edward Munch. I love the bridge and the cyclists, and the buildings really give the scene lots of atmosphere.
Only one comment to make and that is regarding the 3 coloured areas of the image. I find my eye zipping around between them and the cyclists. I wonder if desaturating the spire and the blue area might help. That would leave the brake lights for the viewer to be drawn to. Maybe the bright white spots could be toned down just a little too (the circular one top right and the reflection).
Fascinating image overall!! |
