I like it
Who would have thought to make them a focus point?

It ain't easy to do this maybe because it takes repetitive images but the outcome can be quite amazing.
I think if you take one more pass you lift your scene up a heck of a lot.
It is always about the light

There was not a lot of freedom here when I came to cropping and I think you picked the right course of action. You will be able to fill your memory cards with soccer themed shots in the coming months. Keep your calendar clear

The dark background is the right choice here Pete...Your eyes go right into your subject

Michael,
You did a good job making the viewer believe the ice chunk has scale to it.
A nit to consider, select the ice chunk and reduce the exposure just a smidge to bring out more of its surface details.

Pete,
I thinks your webinar will be well received.
It is probably the engineer in me that likes the full head. I now see what you were trying to do
I offer another way to achieve it with the image I showed previously. I added a vertical radial gradient over the head, inverted it and reduced the exposure so the periphery of the frame darkens. I also placed a horizontal radial gradient over the eyes to lighten it to draw your attention there.

Turning day into night is a bit of masking work as you discovered. I really like the alley scene and it looks great as a night time "shot".
I offer a couple of ideas that are really an interpretation of the available lights - so no right or wrong here. I darkened the alleyway further using a brush and a linear gradient, I added radial gradients below the lights you created and I placed on the each wall where the light above would spill on their surfaces.
Well done and you have inspired me try another scene

Pete,
You have a knack for photographing people in situ, unrehearsed, as they live life. It is a skill. I found it interesting that you shot this at 200mm to get the closeup portrait.
I wanted to see if I could "recreate" the missing part of your subject's head using PS generative fill. I added a bit of canvas to the top, used the spot healing brush to fill in the blank canvas there which created a distorted crown of his head and then I used generative fill to see what AI would do. I chose one of the outcomes that looked realistic to me. I did darkened the background at the top of the frame.

There is always one in the crowd...I was most intrigued by the "action at water level so I wondered how a 16x9 crop might look.
Here it is and I reduced the highlights just a bit

Jack,
Nothing like having dark RR tracks, counter balancing tall white grass in your image. I think anyone would shoot this every time if they could.
Well done

A little different structure submitted by you this month because of the personal link. Certainly a beautiful limestone edifice in its day and even now it looks great in sepia.
Thanks for its history.

The well spaced foliage is simply dynamite here. The bike, windows, and door provide offset to the whites.
Well seen

Welcome to this great group of IR shooters.
You will get many suggestions from us, some diametrically opposed at times, the key is to learn how post process so you can achieve your vision for the image at hand and fold in the ideas you get from us into your tool box as you move forward. You are the artist and it is your eye that must be satisfied at the end of the day.
I like the image you submitted this month. The sky is bright and in keeping with your scene.
Something to keep in mind, make sure you have contrast between white foliage and the clouds behind so they remain separate tonal entities.

Charles,
The effect IR has on skin is amazing, it enhances her beauty to me. I have never tried portraits with my IR cameras...
A nit there is a remnant in the lower right corner that was connected to the wall above in your original.
