Adrian,
Thanks for your comments.
I agree that Pete's version is a better rendition than my initial version. Watch and learn from this good group of photographers

Michael,
Thanks for your thoughts.
I am leaning more towards monochrome renderings of my stills with the hope that I can create nice shadows with the lighting. Most still work is in color so naturally I choose to remove it mine.
I did not think about working this image in color but I will.

Mark,
Your image has the Genie only part way out of the bottle. I think the tower can be a more powerful presence in your final version. I really like the shot
I tried to achieve that but pixel size was my enemy. I used two linear gradients on each side of the opening and dodged them. One more than the other. I put a radial gradient on the tower tried clarity and dehire to make it stand out more.

I agree with your processing idea but my eyes struggle with the soft focus of the many fronds away from the light.
I offer all alternate approach. I repositioned the dark recess so the fronds that are in better focus are on the bottom of the frame, cropped the image square and rotated it to place the those same fronds to the lower left as leading lines. I darkened the upper portion of the image using two linear gradients, brushed the other area to burn it and I brushed all the stems to burn them so they too were leading lines

The late night walker casts one heck of a shadow - the lighting was helpful
My suggestion is dodge the furniture highlights in the upper left. My goes there first and then sees the shadow.

I like your composition. The building pops. It is amazing it is not damaged or spray painted...
A couple of thoughts for you to consider. I darkened the trunks of the four trees that overlap the white siding using select object in LR. I also selected the upper portion of the these trees and lightened so it is consistent toning. My thought is have them offset the white siding more. I also brushed the dark openings and opened the shadows inside so you a little more inside.

Michael,
Your post processing achieved the end state you were after. My eye goes right the lone survivor...
Well done

Charles,
The cabin owner has one hell of a view as did you and your Nikon....
A thought for you is to enhance the "crop" area past the foliage in the foreground either using clarity or texture.... There are nice leading lines between the rows.

Your composition evokes a place where artists might dwell to paint the very scene you shot.
My thought is to open up the trunk of the big tree in front just a bit so the vines stand out a little more

A chapel on a hillside with trees around it and dappled light on the foreground - is a great scene IR or color.
A thought of mine is to darken the foreground wedge of dappled light just a touch to lead you into your image?

Arik,
Two Thumbs Up!
A curving fence line with trees in line with it - you got to take the shot

Stunning composition, maybe one of the best that I have seen since being member here.
The best version is the one you posted after Charles' feedback on 2/5

Aria,
I agree with you re lack of IR content in the original. I thought it would be interesting to see if I could transform it into a night scene.
Thanks for feedback

Amazing core strength.
What if you darkened the background and lightened the dancer?
