It works just fine but it takes Ed out of his shop from my perspective.

The iconic mushroom growing in decaying matter is a nice shot and then with the snow in the frame it raises the ante.
The rough texture of the log, compared to the smooth lines of the mushroom and the snow crystals bring nature to the viewer in a unique way.
Well seen

Mark,
The eye of a good photographer can bring such unique art to the viewer and your Jan submittal is a case in point.
Your processing brings out The Scream so well.
And Pete expanded our knowledge with Face Pareidolial - I will have to Google it

Very classy BW image. The long shadow of your subject and the shadows on the stairs add a nice flair to your image.
Your original lends itself to any number of crops that work so well. Michael's rendition is an example. Totally different feel to the viewer.
Well done

Mandy,
Dynamic shot that pops in BW. I was not aware of this sport either so kudos to you for sharing it with our mono group.

Michael,
A creative end state of your original. The details in the black brick joints and the block wall remain adds interest to your scene as do the white snow flakes. I enjoy simple images that may you stop and examine them
Well done

Melanie,
Well seen. My angst is the cloud reflection in the front part of the water feature - it is blah IMHO

Such a wonderful crisp image!!
My thoughts is lift the foliage in the lower right of your frame just a bit to balance the brights on the left.

Jack,
My eye says to open up the foliage on either side of the water feature to lead you in. I then used a square crop on your image
Thoughts?

Wonderful shot. I am thinking you came home with a keeper even though it will not fly.
I offer my thoughts on slight revision to your submittal to emphasis the old boat. I placed a linear gradient on a slight diagonal such that the 50% line (center line) was aligned with the top of the boat and reduced the exposure. I selected subject which picked the boat and its shadow and increased exposure just a smidge. and I brushed the grass in the foreground and increased the exposure a little.

Nature has a way of allowing plants to grow in hostile rock covered locations. I like the delicate petals against the large coarse rocks.
Your implied message of keeping images that are not perfect SOOC is one I adhere to as well. Our tools improve over time and our eye evolves as to what we like in a composition
Nice recovery
