I think you did old school proud. I think I need to give this image a try too. Sadly I had let it lay fallow for too long

Mark,
Kudos for having the presence of mind to use your iPhone. This is a scene well worth capturing.
I took a little different path to bring your eye into the stairwell. In LR Classic, I placed a linear gradient above the door and again on the left side of the doorway and reduced the exposure. I used a brush on the door jam and increased exposure so its stands out and I also used a brush on the left side of stairs and wall bright area to increase exposure some.

Bob,
Another way to take a micro shot, the best camera is the one you have with you. I like the droplets on the petals. In the end a nice intimate flower photograph

Israel,
I feel that the scale riders to the scale of overall scene could be adjusted by using a 1:1 crop placed to put the road near the lower left corner. The beauty of your scene is retained.
In LR Classic I increased the overall exposure to .45

The texture of these hills that you were able to capture from the Zodiac is simply amazing.
I offer a couple of suggestions. In LR Classic I selected sky and darkened it (exp -.8, black -5) the light clouds closest to the horizon remain light so you end up with a sky transition from dark to light, then I used a brush in two places on the land mass to create depth, the darker region on the face of hill emanating from the lower right corner and the dark pock marked area inward from the lower left corner (exp -.35)

This IS a Money Shot. I love it
I offer quite humbly some thoughts to tailor the natural light you used. In LR Classic, I used the brush tool in four places Hopefully I articulate clearly enough where I affected your image: 1) the inner most area of the record, the red and silver portions in your original, and reduced exposure (-.6), and then there is a light area just to the right about 2 -3 o"clock that I reduced exposure (-.4) and then below and to the left of the Sumiko around 3-4 O'clock I reduced exposure there (-.3) and finally the black reflection in the top right I darkened it to contrast the adjacent light region next to it (black -30, exp -.4)

I love your original capture and fortunately you took the shot(s) before the vines won.
In LR Classic (or Camera Raw for you): I want the old house to stand out....I darkened the sky some being careful that the clouds above the house didn't to dark, I used a brush on the side of the house to darken it and a brush on the front to lighten it, I used a fairly large radial gradient set to invert with a 20% feather to add a vignette and i also used a brush on the outside half of the shed to darken it more so it is secondary

This is a wonderful shot but I sort of feel it is a bit crunchy which I know you can address skillfully.

Melanie,
I visited to Monument Valley for two days (not long enough) several years ago and it is a moving locale. I like your composition it has a pano feel and not typical of shots from the Valley.
The foreground grasses add interest to your image, you could burn them a touch but the need to be there. I would add a sliver of clouds so pano feel is intact but I am not sure the cloud base needs to be so dark. I like the lighting in the sky horizon which says the mid ground clouds should be somewhat dark for contrast but maybe a
touch lighter.

Reflecting on the two points of view to bring your photo into current standards (sharp, high contrast etc) or basically SOOC. I say leave it as you have submitted. You have the old car on a two lane road, shooting through your car window, it is from a Time Machine set back decades. Keep it a is and enjoy your memories from Cuba.

I am a fan of street photography but have never taken a single shot. I think the location, the graffiti, the subjects clothing style, and dog sans leash take back to a time of kids wanting freedom.......

Henry,
The fact that the subject is a leaf just blows me away, simply amazing evenly spaced folds with shadows across it for added goodness. I like Melanie's idea of adding a narrow white stroke around to fame it
Well done

As I dwell on your image, I visualize Humphrey Bogart coming out the shadows cigarette in hand ready to deal with a criminal........
Think what this setup would take in a studio and you had their presence of mind to see the shot in your guest bedroom and then create the final product. Love it
