Pete, Bob, LuAnn, Bunny, and Israel
I did a complete redo of my very busy scene with Bob's thoughts in the forefront of my processing. I darkened the overhead foliage to keep the viewer focused on the lighter areas below. I dodged the foliage and wall here and there for interest and burned foliage on the right hand side and in the background behind the path. A person on the path would have been so helpful in this image.
Thanks for your comments on this one. I will do better next month i promise

What does your husband charge for a 1/2 day of shooting?
I agree with you and LuAnn, it help tremendously to have someone in the scene to draw the eye to the path
Thanks

In general I wait for people to move out of my frame before pressing the shutter but in this scene it would be a good move. Now to find a willing subject.

This is a powerful image with great detail. I agree with Pete about removing the partial images of some of the actors. I also think Bunny is onto something with her picture within your picture crop suggestion.
I will never tire of seeing your shots of actors on the stage

Wonderful texture in your BW rendering and I agree with Pete and Bunny in that you created two nice images.

I will give you a gold star for your BW rendering of Brent and two gold stars for asking to take his picture.

I am thinking the same thing (overhead foliage needs to be darker and on the right), I have started a redo which I will share a bit later
Thanks

A shuttlecock can cast a big shadow creating a nice image. My only thought is bring down the bright area of the shuttlecock itself (on the right) just a little and go with it

I applaud you taking this shot in the first place, a great moment in time would have been lost forever.
Since you are getting some free help I thought I would jump in too. I did a copy and paste of the left wall and transformed it to a right wall..for symmetry.

Copy.
I would like to figure out how to make make a BW rendering work. It helps me with learning good toning techniques in my processing even if I have to start again. If you have some areas to address to help me I am very open to your input.

I like your new version very much, I like the toning update in particular. Well done
I too like park benches in my images they provide an anchor to the scene. Inspiration for Oct.

Henry,
Who would have thought - palms in the Pac NW...Your false color rendering is very nicely done. It conveys a beach house feel to me. Maybe a little sun light spilling over the left side of the house with some partial dodging will help add interest to the house.
Well done

Nice clean crisp image. The fence and bridge work well together for sure. I like the suggestion of a vignette and the sky should remain.

I am glad that you too were out and about taking IR photographs. As Melanie noted you pushed your processing envelope on this image. I think it may be one of the darkest scenes you have posted here, it is all in the name of creative infrared imagery. My eye sees the sky first and I have to really work to look at the hatchery pond, maybe a touch more dodging there

The rows of grape vines bring me right into the depths of your composition. A well seen shot for sure.
I think adding contrast in the foreground between the grape foliage and the ground below adds interest and dodging the white edges in the clouds would as well without darkening them any more.

Your composition is fresh, framed with foliage, and processed perfectly.

I understand the your background angst, I thought making it darker would serve as decent backdrop....
Next time get higher to take the shot

I am diligently working on contrast, it seems a hard problem for me to be honest.
