Overall I think this image is ready to print. I will see if the gravel looks better a little darker per Leah's comment
I sell my photos at a gallery in a neighboring city. After I finalize the image, I will hang a copy for sale

Consider making the spider bigger by rescaling it in Photoshop. It will standout for sure then and look like Vincent Price was involved
Thanks for trying my approach

Now that is a Halloween composite. Nicely done
Food for thought Move the spider onto the window and crop out light frame on the right so the area around the window is all black?
Now with October coming....

Leah,
It takes vision to see the piano as an abstract. To be honest it took me awhile to figure out where the piano was when I first looked - no vision for me
There is an architectural photographer that I like by the name of Angie McMonigal who sees abstracts in building shapes that are also amazing.
Do you think an alternate approach that keeps the top of your BW frame the same but widens the right to include the piano curve would be viable?
Well seen

I do like your idea of using a single prime lens and shooting as you walk about. It brings discipline to your subject selection.
I like your image there so many choices as to which geese and where to crop etc. It says the image is framed right in the camera now the art is in finishing it. I started with the color version, cropped with a little less sky and a little more foreground. I removed a few of the two legged birds and dodged the right side of building interior.
Thanks for sharing

Climate change is real sadly. You see it the Dead Sea water levels.
I like your composition, the detail of the salt mushrooms and lumps in the foreground is spot on and that camera angle leads you into the scene.
Well done

Thanks for your version of 4014. I found getting the tracks to look right was a challenge, Content Aware fill did not work well for me.

Bob,
I use a Sony mirrorless camera (A7R III). When I shoot in burst mode, I lose the electronic image while the shutter is depressed, a fallout of the design. So in order to figure out where the subject has moved to I depress the shutter partially, recenter and shoot again. So I did end up an image that was too close to the left edge. I extended the canvas in PS and filled in the blank space. Both the image black out and fixing poor subject position are a in a pain in the rear. This image I felt had enough space to the left. I will think about tackling canvas extension for it.
To fix the first problem, I am buying an A9 body which does not black out the image.
Thanks for feedback

Shutter speed here froze the motion nicely and retains the detail of every rider. An amazing opportunity to relive days gone by.
I tried some dodging of the foreground and background and burning of calvary men to see if they would stand out in this shot. I used the LR linear grad for the dodging and radial filters on the riders.
I would submit your shot as Fine Art. I am not sure how to define it for photographs.

Hi Pete
Despite your initial feeling you did see your way clear to turn this into a nice shot of an old barn. I will work a little harder to pull a shot out of the maybe pile if I like the subject. BW lends itself to this endeavor quite nicely it just takes PS and LR knowledge
I liked the sky you chose and I wondered if there was a tad more detail that could be brought out. I added a linear gradient on the sky and darkened it a bit and added a little texture and clarity. I then placed radial gradients over the white areas to bring them up a little. I cropped the right hand side some and lightened the grass to contrast the barn. Not saying this is better it is just an alternate look
Thanks for a turn with your barn image, it is a keeper

I was after drama when I chose the particular file with some clouds to insert
Understand your comment on the grass, my thought was to make it the base for the photo so to speak so I darkened it

Inserting the clouds was a must in my mind if the image was going to have any interest.

I thought we had lost you for this month, but you were absent with reason.
I am a fan of old barns as well and we are blessed here in the Midwest to have them in abundance from the past repair state to the state of the art farm. I like your composition choice here. The fence in the foreground, the dilapidated front and the roof substructure showing, along with lots of over growth.
Your processing is interesting and if I had to guess which of us posted this image in a blind test, I would not have picked you based on past posts. I like your approach of adding the Sun burst and following it up with a bright illumination of the barn etc.
Sounds like you are making a heavy tech upgrade to your computer system with new tools to explore, It makes me wonder what Oct will bring to the fore from you.
I use Luminar 4 for sky replacement primarily so await your posts to see what it can do
All the best

Wonderful composition. My eye initially goes between the trees to the bridge. The path takes you into the picture and to the bridge or you can go down the creek to the bridge....
The blue tint works well in my view
Top marks

Jack,
Thanks for your thoughts
I went there in 2018 with the idea of shooting the castle ruins. The photo op was a little disappointing: the fencing around the building limited good vantage points as did the trees. I did not get too much in the way of closeups. I include this color shot to give you a feel for the clouds and sky that day. The trees are not too onerous either from this angle.

Your image does exactly what you set out to achieve
One structure shot square on, plus you can see the sky through the window! Simple sky. No sign of a road or path to access the building either. Speaks to being alone. Food for thought, would the sky look better if the cloud above structure had just touch more white that fades going to the right?
Nice work

OCC is well worth a visit for a day or two So much to shoot, so much clutter, so much rust....I am glad you went
Simplifying your image by eliminating the clutter is the way to go in my view, love the grunge look, it is OCC. The toning also fits OCC
Well done
