I like your update to the trees, just enough light to see the texture

Sometimes the picture is in the picture so to speak
I think you have the shot, with a little cropping, that will be a keeper in color and BW

Thanks so much for your reply. I would have sworn that your shot was in the deep woods observed just off the trail..
I know full well that your continued use of your Lensbaby will produce eye popping results

My hope heading to this Conservation Area was the clouds would be colorized by the setting Sun, instead these dark cloud orbs blocked the Sun entirely so I had to shift to Plan B and the rest you know...

I applaud you giving the lens baby a go. I bought one years ago but never worked hard enough with it to create anything meaningful
I like the bokeh effect in your shot on the right hand side and below the mushroom. Can I assume the upper portion of the tree trunk is in focus by design?

This is not an easy image to process. You want the subject Heron to draw your eye but jump out at you. In this scene Heron's legs tend to blend into the background as well.
I decided to borrow your BW image, crop it down to help the bird standout and reduce the highlights on the bird a little.

Milkweed pods are great subjects especially when they have started to disperse their seeds. Mother Nature's textures are amazing.
Your eye was spot on for this shot. I like the diagonal created by the pod and the seeds on either side to help balance your shot

This is an interesting image. When I think of Bedouins; I see them in the desert with their camels heading where the need to go traversing the sand. Here you captured them with power lines and crossing a paved highway - times change but the Bedouins cope with them just as they always have.
Wonderful shot

A jelly fish in BW works very well I must say. Simple high contrast image. I lean towards Oliver's version with the clean tentacles acting as leading lines

You capture this month has so many possible outcomes during post processing. First three trees nicely arranged provide a great subject. I really like your update in response to Arik's comment is just awesome. My eye goes right to the trees then works its way around the composition and back to the center
Well done

The histogram on your finished image must go edge to edge. The dark tree trunks against the light foliage which frame the near black stream is perfect. The stream ripples slightly until you get to a little patch of white water in the foreground. Simply exquisite detail and contrast.

I fully support your thought of trying to capture chaos and disorder. Your processed image needs a place to hold the viewers eye I think. My approach was to crop the image in a similar manner as Melanie, it seems to be the sweet spot. I increased the contrast and here is where I ended up.
