The iPhone camera are amazing, when people ask what kind of camera to buy for a trip I suggest getting a new iPhone....quality images and no need for LR/PS etc
Thanks so much for sharing the back story on this image. The Antique Filter is perfect for your mausoleum photo. It puts it in the right genre.
I too feel adding a touch more space below the bottom 3 steps and doubling the space above would help your image "breath".
Well done and thanks for sharing insights from your trip.

Your mono image is amazing in fact I wish we knew how you rendered it from the original. I would not have seen it coming out the way it did.
As LuAnn and Leah noted it looks embossed in metal.
I like it

Leah,
Love this shot you retrieved from the archives for us this month. It is simple, lights and darks, texture...There are so many ways to see an outcome.
I had to give it a go. I love the diagonal light streak. I added two narrow LR radial filters over the door to bring up the light there. I also added several Rad filters oriented along the light shaft diagonal to create shadows and cropped it down slightly.
I am thinking that portrait is the best orientation but as always experiment

Oliver,
Your May image is so compelling. Many many people on the street needing food and shelter in this country of riches. Hard to comprehend. Thanks for helping her buy a meal that day.
Top marks on composition and BW processing.

Thanks Pete for your kind words
I have been working for the last several years on black and white processing. I credit St Louis' Jack Curran for inspiration. He was a great teacher and got me moving into BW landscape renderings. Sadly Jack passed away last summer so I am doing the best I can.

Jack,
The umbrellas adorning the canopy make the shot, it is an amazing scene. It inspired to take a stab at a mother way to look at them artistically.
I liked the idea of a portrait scene so I cropped the bottom and the right a little, I then put radial filters on each umbrella, sometimes two, to lighten them, add texture and clarity so they would stand out against the canopy. I lighten the building facade and the first arched door. I darken the ground on the right. The thought was to make the umbrellas steal the scene
Thanks for letting me borrow your shot

Love the composition and the fog in the background is a perfect addition. The water color discussion is important in this image, you get the color right and the image is right. Gary's version works as does your update.

A curved path flanked by a fence line and trees is always something I enjoy seeing. You wonder what is around the next turn etc Thankfully you brought your camera when walked it.
I think it works just as it is
Well done

Great architectural photo. I am going against the grain here and vote for your Original 2. It is the subject of your shot, particularly since you spent a lot of time photographing it as would I. The partial building detracts from focusing on the patterns and the modern style. If the second building could be seen from the ground up (with a wide lens) alongside the subject then yes show both.
This is a quality capture no question and it makes me examine the details closely.

Love our Midwest barns as well, great subject matter in IR. Hopefully this old beauty is around a little longer.
The dappled lighting is perfect as are the clouds in the background. It tells it was a great day to be out shooting in rural Ind for you.
Well done Sir

Kudos to the photogs who ventured out last year to capture the empty streets, restaurants, Malls etc. It is part of our history
Your image is part of this Covid lock down theme, I like it. The escalators take you to the upper level of the scene. You might try a more evenly spaced composition next time of them if its possible
Suggest removing lower level text in background

I like your sky treatment. I had done a couple of renditions of the raw image, one of which I shared on my reply to Jack. I choose a middle of the road version to see how my colleagues would respond. As always new ideas spring forth as a result.

Thanks for your thoughts. I did not use the sketch filter, the "sketch-like" look comes from inverting the image in PS

Thanks for your thoughts, I always enjoy what is on your mind regardless of who submitted the image for critique.
I shot a series of trees lining our local lake in March, the start of Covid shutdown. I wanted to try another way to process them and ended up with several variations about the theme. I offer this one as a sky alternate, I like it better than the one I submitted if truth be known
