I am originally from Mass and have visited Rockport many times. You do not have to leave there to take great photos. I understand your rationale for keeping the wall in the frame, it is the artist's perogative. My storm chaser instinct says to move to the left and capture the surf battering the shore with just the houses on the left in the frame.

What a great opportunity to have a blacksmith allow you to come into his workspace and photograph him toiling away on hot metal. I would lighten Robert's face a little. I think your exposure is fine you can see everything in the scene, including the machine stamp on the anvil.

Well Done

62 Jul 20 Comment Leah,

Good photography is about seeing things that most people pass by without a glance. This an example of seeing the texture, shapes, and tones that work perfectly for Bw

A little different composition for us this month. The 180 gives you reach and the busy bee probably never sensed you. I like the detail you captured - the bee and the flower. Well done

BW portrait is nicely done. I think Meir would be pleased

Food for thought, the left shoulder is very close to the frame edge. Think about spacing of subject going forward

66 Jul 20 Comment Gary,

I think the "make-up" job you did on Nelson was spot on. He was predominantly in shadow. You created a background while you were at it..

Very Well done

Holy Molley. That is an amazing outcome, something I have not seen previously. High marks to you for stepping way out of the box to create this excellent portrait. I am thinking Hollywood will catch on to this lighting/camera technique

Everything you did during post-processing added impact. I echo the groups thoughts. Nicely done

Mother nature never ceases to amaze me. The tree alignment, spacing, and "V" trunks keeps my eye on your subject. The mottled lighting is perfect for your scene.
You found a gem
