Leah,
Warm welcome to the group, I am a new member to Oliver;s great group of shooters myself.
The smart people always have a camera with them, I keep mine at home. I really like the tones in your submission. F2.8 does a nice job fading the background so the finial is perfectly crisp. My thoughts are the light background steak to the right of the finial base is a distraction to the eye due its proximity in the field of view and to a degree the reflection on railing next to the finial. You can clone out the streak and darken/reduce highlights on the railing some to address them.

Israel,
You have an amazing macro shot IMHO. The leaf texture, the morning dew, the contrasting texture of the spiral snail shell and the dark eggs give me eye something to study. I like the crisp foreground focus and background falloff. An fyi is to consider darkening the leaf some on the RHS so it doesn't distract from your subject.

LuAnn and Group,
I have learned how to use the Lightroom radial filter and the adjustment brush to dodge and burn areas of my images. I use Photoshop where needed but I find I can do a lot more than I realized in LR. I have become a huge fan of St Louis's Jack Curran who is an extraordinary black and white landscape photographer. I attended a lecture early last year where he demonstrated how he uses LR in post processing and it is all he uses. I become a fan of his LR workflow. He has about a dozen YouTube videos and I have included the link below of his LR tutorial below:

Thanks for your kind words. I did darken the upper right and the light area below the lower left flower based on your collective feedback.

This shot is off the hook as Guy Fieri says. The tonal detail you captured in the crown of the splash is extraordinary. I have always wanted to try drop photography, patience and fear of falling short of good outcomes keeps me grounded. You could clone out the small drops at the base and darken the two light areas on the RHS but not major issues cus your eye is top side. I love what you accomplished.

LuAnn,
You filled the frame, with nice detail, as Mike Moats often suggests. There are many many ways to process an image such as your tulip. I like your outcome and Oliver's. To me the key is the center needs to be light to draw your eye into the frame - both images do that.

Gary,
I love the exploration path you choose. The selective blur you created through careful use of PS layers adds interest for my eyes. You have given me a name to research in Thomas Vanoost.
My only thought is bring the exposure down a touch.

To all,
I want to thank Oliver for the warm welcome and comments on my first submittal.
I am very happy to be part of this group. I have scanned the May submittals and they are all well done. I will have to work to keep up

I echo Gary's thoughts having looked closely at your image. Processing is top notch. I see two scenes the water with cloud reflections and the land with foliage with a tall grass separation. I need a place to rest my eyes but I can't find it.

Gary,
I like the farming of this not ever "fixer upper" and the darker periphery brings me in also. Not sure how to categorize the base tone you chose for the image, it is unique and works well here. You accomplished what you wanted to create.

Melanie,
The warm colors are captivating and my eye is drawn into your image immediately. The bench is a plus so maybe lighten the area behind it. I am wonder if lightening the tree above it a bit as well as the lower right would also provide viewer interest. I think this is great idea and with a little more digital darkroom work it is off the hook.

Charles,
I saw two areas that would lead to enhancement IMHO. Lighten the grass on either side of the path to provide contrast to the foliage and removing the blue sky regions poking through in the upper left.
I used the LR adjustment brush to lighten the grass and painted the sky areas.

You have outdone Gene Roddenberry. Gary hit the nail on the head, isolate this subject and you have got a very unique shot. I have not seen anything like this previously.

Jack,
Nice simple composition. We can discuss increasing contrast but it is not a deal breaker in my view.
