I love photographing old cars and trucks and you have done yeoman's work using HDR to create this image. There is no foliage in this scene to give you light tones so it tends to on the dark end of the histogram. My thought is to work on the truck on the right to pick up the sun lit areas and darken the shadows a little to get to stand out and provide a focus point.

I am taken in big time by your image. The curvature of the terrain, the details in the grass, the dark tree trunk offsetting the white trees in the mid ground are perfect. My eye then moves to sky and it causes me "tension" because I don't expect to see that dark patch with the muted off-white clouds after everything else in your image that works just great. My suggestion is to bring the clouds up more.

Nice simple scene. I applaud you for the color tones in your image. I have never achieved the pastels you achieved.

I like the foreground interest that leads me into your photo. The building stands out nicely - different tone than the clouds, nice perspective that falls away, and even the roof on the tower has a highlight that offsets it from the dark sky. I had no problem with the rack, it looks like a period item vice a modern addition

You chose an Interesting subject for IR. The sculpture has nice detail with shadows to provide depth. To focus our eyes on the carving you lightened the border but left some of the background trees on the RHS for context which works just fine.

Melanie,
An inviting scene for sure. The black water in the foreground provides a foundation, you captured the water flow, the details in the rocks and white foliage on top rounds out the layers in your composition. Good to go

Thanks Gang for your thoughts all of which are actionable. Gary, my image could stand a contrast boost. I also think the foreground area can be improved based on your collective input. |
