Dealing with blah skies when you are in the field shooting is a big challenge always, you always hope you can do the photo some good in the digital darkroom.
You can try Gary's idea using detail extractor and/or darken it so the foreground is area of interest.

This is an interesting composition in a couple of respects, the house is in the shadows and light and warmth is beyond making you wonder about the edge of town and the eye tends to go to brighter areas first but in your image you are compelled to look at the house in shadow with all its detail as your eye moves down from the tree.
It works nicely I think.

I am a big fan of simple images. One of the early comments I received is that sometimes your eye needs a place to rest in your photo. I think you were on that track but stopped a little short, I am wondering if you darkened the edges of the foliage just a little more that you could create a place for the viewer's eye.

Gary,
Clouds/Sky are top notch, the five horses coming to us at their own pace give us a sense of a long trek ahead across the open plain.
I think your interpretation of this IR image is spot on.

Thanks for feedback
I was pleased getting to the spot I reached when I submitted this image to Melanie, now that I the rush has past I think I would try to make the foliage a little greener for sure. I am OK with grass color ~fall look to it. I think the gradient map opens new doors to processing IR for me, getting the color right is the challenge, it just takes time on the machine
