Great comments from the group. I concur the mid ground needs fade more (Melanie and Gary's input). I loved the sky and accepted the fact that the gold mid ground seemed to be impervious to color toning. Gary's use polarization is a new to me so I will save that for future processing. The biggest takeaway for me is look at my work differently and experiment more. I am working on a method (PS Gradient Map) to add tone to BW IR that will add interest without using channel swapping. My Nov submittal will reflect my experimentation. Standby all |

Being from the Midwest I love baled hay. I also like the tone of the leafless tree. My eye is drawn to the treeline and the hay bales since it is the lightest part of the image. I am wondering if the leafless tree can be lightened more to make it an anchor point on the treeline. I would also lighten the foreground and the oval patch so you truly have 1/3 foreground and 2/3 sky. |

I like the foreground in shadow with dappled light, Your eye naturally goes to the light area. The lady at the rail is a real plus. My thought is to see if cropping the left most tree out so the lady is near the center helps....so when you look into the light area there she is along the camera axis. |

Your processing to make the tree pop worked wonderfully. My thought is to build upon your processing of the subject by darkening the area at the top and removing or darkening the pine tree on the right so the tree is the star of the show. I think that will make for a unique composition. |

I really like the blue tone you chose, it has a cool feel and the clouds you added to an otherwise black sky. My thoughts are to lighten the subject building including the shadow areas (e.g under the overhang) so it stands out and remove the ballon my eye tends to go to it pulling me away from the subject. |

Processing is spot on. I did not understand that your subject was the bow structure of a ship without reading your narrative due to closeup nature of your shot. I don't know what composition choices you had at Fort Stevens or if this was your preferred shot but my suggestion is to capture more of the subject so the viewer know what your storyline is. |
