This is a really artistic rendering Helen. It creates a whole different mood. |

Coming at this one a little late... my first reaction was also a little bit underwhelmed but I do like the abstraction of it and that circular shape seems a key motif.
I think this image has a lot of room for creative experimentation. Here's an unconventional crop which brings out some of the shapes in the reflection in a different way.
Reminds me of a muppet. |

Ha, I was thinking this person was a performance artist on display in the room but perhaps you and her together were all part of another kind of performance. Not such an empty room after all!
I like the idea of going a little darker as "contemplation" seems to pair better with dimmer lights. Though personally, I don't know if I get contemplation from her pose so much as some other emotion, perhaps loss or sorrow. Especially with the large metal texture behind her. Feels a little like a bank vault or prison. |

That haze makes for a great photo but a sad commentary on the environment.
I do like the vibrancy of the color version, especially the red scarf against the green trees.
Though a B&W version is not a bad idea for an alternate version. I find that Helen's version draws attention to different things, like I didn't really notice the person walking in the background till the B&W version. |

That's a pretty great image right out of the camera. I like these type of photos where it is getting dark with lights on in the buildings. The reflection brings it together.
I find your version vs original seems over sharpened or maybe it is JPG compression. Can't tell exactly but see it in details like the foreground palm tree leaves and some of the trees in the back as well. |

I like the moment you have captured here. The warmer color helps show their connection.
I agree with Helen that I think a wider crop with the horses feet might be another version of this image that you could use. Maybe even cropped to portrait or 8x10 to bring the attention to the people but still keep the wider view.

Thanks Helen. It can be a fine line between an epic photo and one that just misses the mark. |

"Many quite ordinary shots look much better in mono"
So true Helen! This was a little tongue-in-cheek joke I put into the curriculum I creating for the photo cards for the "Black and White" lesson / card.
You can see my sentiment about that on an article I wrote on Aminus3 for this purpose:

I think this is a good portrait as is, my eyes go right to the belly! I think one reason the blur is not resonating is that it seems too stark a contrast between the cool analog blur and then the sharp portion of your subject. I think the effect would work better if everything was fuzzed out or perhaps just more of his body and the scene vs having one area in sharp focus. |

Funny I was seeing the tree as the main event and the horse as a nice set piece but you saw it the opposite way. Thanks Jim. |

Thanks Terry. I was waiting for the damn horse to turn a different way for 10 or 15 minutes but I see you've figured out a way to get him moving much quicker :)
I like him facing in towards the tree. The dehaze gives it a much different look as well. |

thanks Mitch. The crop in this one was as shot as I was trying to get the horse and blooming tree in one image, but I did take a few others using a wider angle where there is more room on the sides. |
