Thanks Helen. Good suggestion! A couple years ago, we had a person present at the Brussels camera club about portfolios from the perspective of the Royal Photographic Society vs PSA, but a similar idea I think. |

What a great moment and good thing you had your phone handy to get this photo. These Arizona rocks remind me of some of parts of Oklahoma near the Wichita Mountain Wildlife Refuge. You can kind of see it in this image but in person they are even more similar: https://jason.aminus3.com/image/2014-04-07.html
I prefer the bluer color and some of the subtlety in your original vs the uniform HDRish processing of your edit.
I wanted to see if using selective lightening with the old Photoshop 50% overlay neutral gray dodge / burn technique might work, and this was the result of a quick attempt.

Great architecture which is nicely accentuated in your B&W version. That swirl of a cloud behind the tower adds good interest as well .
I agree about the cars in the foreground, and I also wonder if you had moved your perspective some to the left, so that the you are more perpendicular to the church - if that would have made for a better image? But of course the conditions of the day you took the picture dictate those choices. |

This is a fantastic portrait of this charismatic guy. Nice that you were able to sit with him a bit before going into photo mode.
Jim and Terry are on to something, the color version for me is much more interesting. The complimentary colors of red and green work well here.
I don't mind the background in your original color version. Terry's idea to mute it works too. |

Great to try something new Brenda. And funny timing, I just saw an article on PetaPixel this week with the title, "How to Shoot Milk Bath Photography"
https://petapixel.com/milk-bath-photography/
Would have been helpful before the shoot!
I think what you've got looks pretty natural and mostly works. If I'm looking close enough, there is a little weird edge on her thigh that you edited which was accentuated more in Terry's version. I also don't mind her darker eyes so much and I think brightening them up looks a little strange like she is looking at you cross eyed. Probably just the way she was looking up at that angle.
I do like the idea of adding more flowers.

Great scene Jim. This is another photo where the flip works, though I agree with Terry that cropping in a bit tighter on her as you did in your first edit might be preferred. Maybe half way so you do get the hatbox on the bed but not as much of the loop on the back wall. |

I can see why you went to this town looking for photos. Very picturesque!
To me, the black boat adds a symbolic element of mourning or loss along with the reflection (reflecting on loss), though those colorful canoes which add a great visual element, do take away from that narrative somewhat (or maybe counter with "new life" in the old) something like that :)
Not much to add on the image or edit itself other than it helps make everything pop much better.

Appreciate the honest feedback, thanks Brenda.
We all have a pretty good caliber of pics so sometimes good to see some of the less successful ones to discuss. |

Thanks Terry. It dead ends into another perpendicular road. Left was towards where I was going, but never turned right so not sure were that led. |
