Fun find Jim. I really like your toning on this one. On the composition / crop, I tried a 16x9 version and included that little nub on the log that to me leads the eye into the group of turtles. I'd be curious to see how it looks with your toning and this type of crop though the way you have it works well too. |

Great find Sunil. A very charismatic tree against a unique church. I think your edit in response to Brenda is the best version. |

Congrats on the 85mm f/2. I imagine that will be a fine lens. As with Helen's photo this month, this is pretty nice for a tester image.
It feels peaceful to me and I get that sense of a couple together for eternity. Even more so I think in your processing than the original.
I would also agree with cropping a little off the left side though perhaps not as much as Jim suggested. Maybe somewhere in between. |

This is an awesome moment and a good title. I like your version with the selective color on the eyes but also if you can preserve the color version with a good round of noise reduction, that would be nice as well.
I agree with Terry that the green is overpowering and would dial that down and I like Jim's idea to crop a little off the bottom. |

Not bad for your tester photo Helen :)
I like the juxtaposition of the fancy new buildings and the slightly less modern market. The person walking adds interest and a subject (to Brenda's comment about not catching a clear subject).
You might even consider going vertical to bring the eye to the person while maintaining the hint of skyscrapers contrasted to the market ambiance.
In that case I'd leave a little more sky on top from your original. |

Wow Brenda. Sounds like you had to work to get this one! I would highly recommend enjoying Santorini on an extended stay not quite in the thick of tourist season if at all possible. Though when I visited (late Oct) it was a little too late and the locals were somewhat over catering to people so that was not so great either. Still it is such a beautiful island to wander and photograph.
Without reading the other comments, my first inclination was to crop it more like you and some of the others. But seeing Jim's crop, I do like the way you see the town growing up out of the empty mountainside and gives a nice flow to the image I think. I would try a crop like that and maybe even include those bottom buildings which blend better in a larger view than when they are taking up the whole bottom of the frame.
I prefer the sky naturally as it is where you get a nice gradient from dark blue sky to dark blue sea. Sunil's idea to darken it a bit more might work too.

Thanks Helen for the edit and detailed description. I'm not too familiar with NIK tools, how does the warp one work and what is the effect you were going for with that part of the process?
The mono is a nice way to see all these old lines and textures. I like how the door in the other building is accented here which gives another visual anchor in the composition.
I also found it interesting how the clouds are all above the light post as if in their own drawn in line or area. I didn't notice that so much in the color version but with your edit it was more obvious. (almost looks a bit fake !)
