My Dad was telling me about this place. I think he visited there a few years back to take photos. This is a great vantage point / image.
I like your edits as well. The mono definitely brings out the old textures and contrast.
Though you might be able to get something interesting out of the color as well. I was playing with some of the new color toning options in the latest Lightroom Classic and came up with this. Sort of a split tone. I think it brings more luminance to background hallway. This is just a quick idea, you could probably do more with some conscious effort.

I like the clouds in your edit. They seem very vivid. This would probably really pop on a metal print.
The idea of adding a foreground subject might be a fun addition to explore. |

This is really a special image you've captured here. I can see how it looked like a sunset to you in the viewfinder. How surreal in the dark of night.Â
Dunno if I would change all that much. I like how you've brought out the yellow color and the crop gives it a cinematic look.
I second Helen's idea to create an alternate version of this image that is more centered on the sky burst (like attached). You could shop both around (in competition etc) and see which is better received.

Great capture Abdo. Love the father and son dynamic here.
I think the sky replacement looks pretty natural, though when looking closer at the bottom left (mound) , things looks slightly amiss.
Still, a great image regardless. I hope you were able to give a copy of the photo to these guys. |

Thanks Helen for the creative edits. Your half B&W / half color concept is an original take. I like it!
I've shared the original with Brenda (below) if you'd like to pull that one up. The dog's head didn't get cut off here but does if you rotate the image to make the lines straighter.
On flipping it around reflection first, this must be an Aminus3 thing. We have a lot of creative photos where the reflections appear as the main subject.

I like this kind of image and that's what I was going for here.

I like the candid view of this street artist at work. The B&W looks good, though I was surprised how colorful the art was when looking at the original.
I wish his bike wasn't behind him like that but probably would have been hard to find an angle where it wasn't and more so if you were taking a quick street snap.
I feel like the flow of this image is on the left side and would consider cropping it with more room on the left for the shadow of the man and bike tire to fall out of the frame. I made a quick crop for illustration.

I think you've done a pretty good job with the genre / objective.
I love the look of your model, the cigarette dangling, and his outfit. The blinds are a good prop too.
A couple things I would have changed if possible during the shoot
- Getting more light on your subject than on the blinds (they seem overexposed compared to the subject)
- Utilizing some creative lighting to add selective shadows to his face or body (could do that in post as well)
- His face seems a little soft or out of focus. Would have like to see it much sharper but looks like it is possible to sharpen a bit in post.
- Get a couple shots of him looking through the blinds vs at the paper. (not so crazy about the cloned person outside as it seems strange and doesn't add much to the scene IMO)
Here's my version from your original. I used a LR preset called "B&W Punch" for starters. Then brought highlights and whites down, upped the "texture" slider to make his face sharper, and added a pretty strong vignette as well.
