78 Nov 18 Comment Brenda,
Thanks for the tip. Here are two more versions cropped square. One with just yellow and the other B&W.

78 Nov 18 Comment I think this is a great shot in every respect... love it. Nov 10th
78 Nov 18 Comment I don't like losing the horizon on the right side. You might try cropping just to the left of the sticks. Solving the issues of the horizon, sticks, and bright waves all in one. I think I would pull up the shadow detail a little in the foreground. Nov 10th
78 Nov 18 Comment Beautiful shot. I would try cropping tighter, perhaps to a square.I don't think the left side and very top help the impact of the image. I would crop a little of the right as well. I like the ideal of a journey from darkness to light. Nov 9th
78 Nov 18 Reply Sunil,

With this crop I saw the bird for the first time. I see now it wasn't there before. Good addition. Perhaps a little more room on the right.

78 Nov 18 Comment Really nice work. Great concept. You might try a vertical crop and place the wall 1/2 way between the right hand vertical third and the right hand edge. 1/3 of the pic blank is too much for me. Nov 6th
78 Nov 18 Comment Alan,
What a great shot for the wedding album. I agree with Jason it would be nice to see a little more room on the left. I don't find the HDR very romantic. You might try softening the original file with "negative clarity" in Lr.

78 Nov 18 Comment Brenda,
I love the shot and what you did in post. I would leave it as is. Perhaps "Vortex" as I title.

78 Nov 18 Reply Brenda,
What you see comes from putting a small coverage lens (in Nikon speak DX) on a full frame camera. One can set the viewfinder to see the cropped image which I'm sure I did. I don't know why I shouldn't have sent the uncropped file. I just hit the reset button to take it back to the original and sent it without thinking. Here is the cropped original file. Is it possible to post this as the original at the top of the page?

78 Nov 18 Comment Richard and Jason,
Here is the shot cropped, cleaned up, and optimized without the post-processing. I did this in 2013 when is look was hot. I didn't use HDR although that might have been simpler. I'm not sure I could have enhanced the clouds, which are an important aspect to the image. I agree... looking back I think I might have over done it.
