Perhaps a compromise on the brightness of the sky. I need to see the wires continue on. Much prefer the B&W. Good work. |

Alan,
Thanks for your honest comment. Being a beginner has nothing to do with it. If it doesn't speak to you it doesn't. It's all about communication. |

Abdo,
I love the texture and composition of your shot. If you venture into Ps you might think about cleaning up the slight vertical protrusion halfway the right side of the window. The clone tool in light room is not very controllable and hard to use. I spend a lot of time in post processing, and use Lr for about 80% of my work. I use Ps for cloning and when I need layers.
Great use of Lr. |

Richard,
I like your shot a lot.You might try using the graduated filter (M) in Lr to bring down the brightness of the top 1/3 of the train car, so that the color of the writing matches the stripes. That will also help lead the eye to the man in the window. It might also help to darken the white bars at the top of the two center windows. |

Jason,
I like the flip because in the west we read from left to right, so with this flip the eye is lead into the action. With nature shots and abstracts, I both rotate and flip on a regular basis. |

I love your capture. Here are my cropping and vignetting recommendations. I cloned out the pipe as well. I hope I'm not over stepping my bounds here. I don't mind blur to show movement. |

Sunil,
You might try straightening your verticals in Ps using: edit / transform / distort. Pull guide lines in from the rulers to help straighten you verticals. That way you won't lose your foreground and have to crop the wheels. For me, the next big problem is the poles and wires. You might clone them out (a big job) or darken the sky way down using Viveza 2 in Ps. Then convert to B&W. |

You might try darkening the foreground a bit to lift the eye up to the rocks |

Brenda,
I like this crop better but would perhaps leave in the grass in the foreground and a little more room on the left. I prefer not darkening the reflection.

Richard,
I did use a plugin called "grunge". I've lost track of it, but will try to find it. |

Brenda,
The biggest boost to this image was cropping and straitening the vertical and horizontal lines in Photoshop. It was what I was going for when I made the capture. I did use a plugin called grunge. I've lost track of it. I'll look around for it. |

Oliver,
Thank you. I like your idea of opening the shadows in the lower right. Perhaps not as much as your example. I like like going from bright sunlight to depths of the inner city... all in one block. |
