57 Oct 21 Comment Nice image Andrew and I appreciate the Telluride history as well. I luv shooting these old mechanical things, it really does make you appreciate the craftsmanship that went into it. Others have mentioned sharpening clarity adjustments that I agree would improve the shot, esp. I wish that large gear on the left were sharper, it's such a prominent feature. Oct 28th

57 Oct 21 Reply Thanks Nelson, will do a little cloning. Oct 28th
57 Oct 21 Comment Nice shot; orchids can be tricky, there is so much depth to choose from - petal, stamen, etc. I like your crop, the way the right/top petal fades into the background. Maybe to reduce the bright spots in the background, depending on your editing software you could reduce the luminosity of the green channel. Oct 15th
57 Oct 21 Comment Nice candid portrait shot. You captured the mood and present a nice story. The eye softness doesn't bother me, the tears may help explain the softness. Cindy's suggestions/edits do work well. Oct 15th
57 Oct 21 Comment Nice image, Nelson. I think the square format works well for this flower. Judging from your description, this was probably an IR shot? And the built in 'Art' preset only produced a jpeg, or did you have a choice? Just wondering what a RAW file processed in Capture One would have looked like in comparison. I like the water drops, they add a lot of interest to the image. Your image, like mine, shot at f5.6 may have lost some depth of field; f8 may have given you more sharpness in the center. I agree that some of white splotches in the upper background are a little distracting. Oct 15th
57 Oct 21 Comment Nice detail and color. Succulents make good subject matter. I like the lines of the fountain that flow well with plants but I agree with Cindy that showing the bottom of the donkey tails would strengthen the composition. Oct 15th
57 Oct 21 Reply Thanks Marcela, for sure the softness is there, probably due to the f5.6 aperture. Probably could have bumped it up a little more, maybe even f8 but I was so worried about movement, I went for that high shutter speed. Oct 15th

77 Oct 21 Comment Beautiful image, Denise. Your decision to move beyond the black background was a good one and I think it truly brings out the painterly effect you were going for. Oct 28th

95 Oct 21 Comment Nice image Carol. Beautiful color and I like your creative use of f4.5. The webinar has succeeded in showing you what to focus on, instead of just shooting the flower. Hang in there for the nay-sayers; they have already driven away some good photographers and that shouldn't be. Oct 28th
