Years ago when we lived in Arvada, CO we belonged to a narrow gauge fan group and we went on the Silverton every year. One of the guys in the group new the owner at the time and he was able to arrange for a special photographers trip. The train would make stops along the route, everybody would get off, line up, and the train would back up, build up steam and head back towards us for our photo op. Lots of fun. That stopped when there was an ownership change but I think the Silverton people picked up on the idea and run fall color photographer specials now.
The Cumbres Toltec was a fav also. |

Thanks Andrew, it does look like a truffle. For sure timing meant a lot, this thing dried up quickly and the moment was gone. |

Luv RR images, we were big narrow gauge fans when we lived in Colorado. Like your low angle, really strengthens that leading line into the tunnel. I understand your intent to show the well used rail but as others have mentioned, the colors and dark spots don't do justice to the good composition. Such a cool tunnel, too bad it can't be explored. The juxtaposition of the tracks, tunnel and graffiti make for an interesting story. |

Nice poppy image; like the mix of colors and lines. Cindy's edit adds a good touch, all I might suggest is pulling up the shadows a little in the center. |

This is a fun image, I'm not a still life shooter, so not sure what's the norm is but I think rearranging the geometry might give it a stronger composition. I'm thinking putting all the cherries together, say in the middle of the shot. Then taking herbs, etc. that have the straight lines and arranging them diagonally. Probably your friends intent and yours as a photographer are different. She wants to see all the items laid out for easy identification, and you would like to arrange items more for creative composition. Would she object to having the ingredients layerd on top of each other for more depth, as long as everything can be identified? |

Sunflowers make such interesting macro subjects. I understand your frustrations things looking fuzzy in closeups. You didn't mention your setting but judging the soft center of the flower, your f stop was probably opened up to get the light you needed but losing some DOF. I have issues with camera shake also when hand holding. The bee is great good detail wings and hair. That soft center area is distracting, how would it look if you cropped in the other direction, or added a vignette keep the viewers eye on your main subject. |

Luv that rust, and the red/blue hues. I'm glad that you were able to capture the text on the lock, adds to the story. The only thing I might suggest is a little more of a crop on the left side, that grating kind of pulls my eye away from your main subject. Well done image. |

Nice composition Nelson. I've had Infrared conversion on my mind for a while, will be interesting to see more of your images in that format. There is good detail on the butterfly, I'm wondering if the conditions would have aloud you to shoot at higher f-stop for more DOF, which probably would have required a higher ISO, and I understand the issues there. Only other comment would be to bring up the shadows on the face and eyes if there is detail there, not sure how that would work with it being an IR image. BTW, who did your conversion, and are you happy with there work> |

Nice image, Carol. Soft, shallow DOF flower shots are an art-form of there own. This one works, gives nice, ethereal feel to the image; the water adds to it. Well done for hand-held in strong wind. I probably wouldn't have even tried in winds like that. |
