Thanks for the input, I see what you're both saying. I held back on the sharpening of the ice quite a bit since there were so many highlights. But some added midtone clarity would work; will give it a try. |

Nice find Andrew. Amazing what comes back after a fire. I like you composition of the three mushrooms but agee with Jessicas crop. The grasses at the top, too me are still to bright and distract the viewer from your main subject. I think a vignette would help to tone down those bright areas. Also, if you went back into Luminar and brightened just the shadows under fungi caps, I think it would show off more of their detail. |

Interesting skull; the horns are amazing. I like the processing you have done, the blue tone works well to tame down the background but it looks like maybe there still to much blue in the horns, esp. the larger sections. To address Jessicas point, since you have done the masking work already, maybe a slight blur on the background layer would bring the skull to full attention. Looks like there is some nice detail in the 'mouth' of the skull, if you pull up the shadow slider a little, could we see more of what's in there? |

I too, at first look thought of an old tire. Would have never guess that a CD could have so many cracks, but then, maybe that's why they skip so often, ha. For sure, monochrome works great for this shot. I like your creative, abstract approach. You didn't say what your f stop was but as Jessica mentioned, the out of focus areas, esp. on the bottom are distracting, also because of there lighter tones, pulls the viewer towards them. I agree a tighter crop might help, also a vignette may also help here to darken those white areas. Have you tried some of the Capture One preset/film looks that they include. Might give you some cool variations on your abstract image. |

Hi Cindy. Nice capture and good detail considering how dark it was and the high ISO. Luv the subject matter too, I can't seem to pass up and old suitcase/truck without taking a bunch of shots. I just recently took advantage of a sale that Topaz has on their Denoise AI, it does an amazing job on noise reduction. Worth a look if you want to add one more tool to the box. The only nit-pic I would make is maybe to straighten the image a little; might not be possible if it throws you latch out of wack. |

Hi Jessica. I don't shoot flowers too much but I seem to ponder over 'complete' DOF sharpness, or shallow, creative softness whenever I do. I think you have done well with whites on this image, which was your goal. Some of that and the sharpness issue Beverly mentions may come from the Topaz filter (s) you used. To me, looks like the filter added a glow, which is turn, is often just a form of blur. You may revisit that filter, and see if glow is part of the mix. Play around with that glow filter, maybe reduce it intensity and see if it brings back some sharpness. If you remove all the glow on the stamens/pistels (sp???) and keep some on the white petals, that may give the viewers eye a place to land. I agree also that adding some textures could benefit this shot. |

Wonderfull capture; don't see many of these guys puzzling over snow and ice. It would of been tempting to crop more to show more of the hummer but you're framing perfect. Tells the whole story with the ice and snow, and as others have mentioned, the background adds to that story of winter and cold. And how out-of-place this little guy must have felt that day. |

Hi Carol; visiting from Group 57. Luv you flower capture. I like that you have gone in tight and your central focal point is sharp and colorful. Also like the water drops, wouldn't mind seeing more of them <;-) |
