Thanks Andrew, I really liked the patterns and textures also, there were endless varieties. For sure flipping it horizontal and having it radiating from the bottom should look good, maybe more leading lines. |

Thanks Marcela, one of the big reasons for this crop and not showing more of that turquoise was that there was a big empty gap there, no fruit, etc. So there was a big, over exposed white spot in the original. Had to go..... |

Nice capture and I agree with Cindy that the diagonal angle makes for a strong composition. As others have stated, the background distracts and pulls interest away from your main subject. I made a stab at reducing the background noise and bright spots, and darkened the blacks. |

Very nice image Mary, I agree with Cindy on the colors and that backlighting is perfect. The background bokeh really adds to the composition. I find my eye shifting back and forth between the big clump of leaves and the smaller bunch on the left. Maybe an additional crop, adds to keeping the viewer focused on your primary subject. Gave a shot a cropping in the copy below: |

I like the strong diagonal lines and sense of depth this image gives. The white spots in the background are a little distracting. While you are experimenting, you might try blending in some other color or textures into those white spots using layers and Blend Modes. |

Thanks Cindy; I'm going to playing around with cropping. I like the idea getting an abstract print from this shot. |

Thanks Jessica, guess I'm just a dark person, haha. Seriously, though it probably should be brightened up a bit. I was so concerned about blowing out the hi lights that I went to the dark side. |

Interesting subject Andrew, I like the shape and color. I think the diagonal angle you used really adds to the compositions strength. I don't know anything about your camera but I'm wondering if you could used a high f stop, say maybe f8 which may have given more depth of field on the seed. You've got some bright corners that could benefit from being darken so the viewers attention stays on the seed. |

Nice image Marcela. Good capture through glass, the birds eye looks pretty sharp even at that high ISO. Getting his mouth open really adds some personality to the image; make you wonder what he's yelling about. Boy, I know what you mean about the background, seems all my bird shots have cluttered background. Maybe for future shots, a smaller aperture would blur the background a little. For this shot, I might be tempted to ignore the rule of thirds and crop the image with the bird in dead center, all those branches on the right are a distraction. After that crop, applying a vignette may help tone down the background and place more emphasis on the bird. |

Having shot our Christmas cactus many times, I luv what you have done with image. a cluttered background always seems to distract from the flower itself. The texture blending and background replacement work really well and complement the flower. Amazing that this was done with your phone. The only thing I might be tempted to do is slightly reduce the texture on some of the foreground leaves as a way a pulling the viewer into the middle of the flower - but hey, its all a matter a taste, and I still the image a lot. |

Wonderful portrait image Cindy, the side profile really gives you a nice angle on the feathers. I would not change a thing on the bird, it looks great. Since the original background was black, seeing the mottled grays in the image can be a little distracting. Maybe returning that background to true black could provide a stronger contrast with the owl. Well done; what a great opportunity the Bird Sanctuary provided for photographers. |
