Cool, I like it. A little contrast goes a long way. Give it a little pop and depth. |

Hi Stephen, dropping by from Group 60 to check out your Jumbles. I like these types of shots for Macro work. I do prefer the monochrome image but in saying that, I'm kind of a Contrast guy when in comes to B&W, so one alternative thought might be to use the Black slider to add a little more black to this image. There is a lot of middle gray; maybe a little more black could add more depth. Not too much so you loose details in shadows but a little. If your editing software can do Luminosity masks, that could be way selectively darkening some of those middle grays. Just a thought. Happy Jumbling!
PS Played around with your image in ON1; bumped up the Whites and midtowns and selectively in some shadow areas. Wanted the bottom of that Elegant bottle under the Woo bottle show up, to add more depth. Did it work or did I go to far? |

Thanks Stephen, good of you drop by the group. I like to experiment like this and get away from the bugs and flower shots for awhile. I like your term: Jumbles, perfect description. I will visit you group for sure. |

Thanks Bill. Had a lot of fun with one. Yeah, going through your junk drawer may open up a treasure trove. |

Thanks Doug, you are correct and I did worry about the bigger, brighter keys being a distraction. I took some shots were I eleminated all of those keys but then I lost that jumbled, piled up look. I will experiment a little more and see what I can come up with. |

Fantastic Denise. I agree with Carol, wouldn't change a thing. The composition and lighting are great; you have a good eye. Your patience paid off, the center is open enough to allow detail and luminosity to show. Well done ! |

I agree with Denise, a side view with stem may tell more of a story. I like that you capture those flies, and the texture and color is good - for mushroom or pancake <;-) The crop for me may be a little too tight, and the black left bottom corner could be lightened up a little so all four corners match. |

Cool shot Doug. Even though I don't know anything about soot gremlins, the viewer knows there is a story here, and interest is generated. Exposure is well balanced; the white of the eyes and black of soot look perfect. Congrats again on the focus stack, I agree with Denise, the tediousness of stacking frustrates me. I'm encouraged by your success. The maroon background doesn't really bother me but maybe a soft vignette would accomplish what Carol is looking for. Very creative and fun. |

Nice image Bill, dahlias make such great subjects. As mentioned by others the color pop really grabs the viewer. But as photographers we can see that maybe the saturation slider was over done. Try the vibrance slider for a more subtle color boast that provides less emphasis on the reds. Or as Lou mentions, bump up just the yellows in the HSL sliders section. I don't know if was from the high ISO, or over sharpening but white specs scattered around the image are a little distracting for me. As Denise mentioned, a small diffuser would help reduce specular highlights but as I often find out, hard to use when your hand holding; bring on the Plamp. |

Nice image Carol. You've capture not only good detail but also the creatures mood, I thinks. For me, the eye is really the subject I'm drawn too. So if it were centered and zoomed in more, would be a cool macro in it self. I know that you were probably restricted by you location but kudos for the tack sharp eye. |

Hi Lou I too used Aperture for years until it was discontinue (that really irritated me). I new it was only a matter of time before I would not be able to open Aperture and view my photos; so I imported the entire catalog into Apple Photos. Have not imported en mass from Photos to ON1. I use Apple photos for old family photos, images from my wife camera, old photos/slides that I've scanned (and Aperture). As I've gone through old Aperture stuff in Photos, clean out dupes, did some reorganizing, etc. As I come across old photos that are "worthy"; I'll move them into ON1. ON1 doesn't move or put your photos into a proprietary catalog. You build your on file structure using your computer file system and point ON1 towards those files. I organize my photos by year, then subject categories within that year. I like the fact that I can see all my photo files without having to open other software. Not sure how import into a Windows machine without going through Lightroom or Capture One. We can continue this conversation outside this forum if you wish. |

For sure Lou, I have memories of my Grandpa's basement being full of rusty tools and lots of locks but never saw many keys, haha. |

Hi Charles, just visiting from Group 60. Luv this image, although I don't think it's a dried rose. I tried shooting these orchids before and always seem to over expose the whites of the petals. Nice sharpness and focus, the drop off is very natural. I have never heard of Melanie Kern-Favilla but the technique sounds perfect for the subject matter. I will definelty look to her work for inspiration as well. Well done ! |

Hi Lynne, just visiting from Group 60. Luv this image, nice capture. The leading lines and geometric shapes are really interesting As a former Fl resident, I sometimes miss the new growth that comes when the rest of us are in deep winter. Well done ! |
