60 Jun 19 Reply Thanks, Bill Jun 24th
60 Jun 19 Reply Thanks Denise, for sure the brightness can be distracting. Most of the plant was in the shade except for this 'bud', so I was hoping the backlighting would add interest. Jun 24th
60 Jun 19 Reply Yup, that string should go. Amazing after spending all that time processing the image, I didn't see that little distraction. Thanks for the feedback. Jun 24th
60 Jun 19 Reply Thanks John, for sure this vine plant did scream for attention. Hope to confirm this week how it's changed and see if it is indeed a Pitcher plant as Barbara suspects. Jun 24th
60 Jun 19 Reply Will do Bill; my photo club is returning to the Gardens this Thursday, so I'll have a chance to see how this plant has changed and maybe confirm it's identity. Jun 24th
60 Jun 19 Reply Hi Barbara: Thanks for the feedback, they certainly look similar. It might be that it was early in the season when I took the original photo and the pod had not yet fully developed. We are going back to the gardens this thursday (27th) and it will be interesting to see how the pods look now. I used to live in the Tampa Bay area and gardens certainly were prolific. I luv this image; the water in the foreground is a nice touch and blends perfectly with the subject matter. Jun 24th
60 Jun 19 Comment Really nice Denise. I like your choices for post-processing, the matte look really works well for this image. I don't usually find the Matte pre-sets interesting but it works here. I like that the background is dark but not totally black; the green tint blend well with the flower. You have a good eye for how to place your selective focus. As Bill says, this is a pleasing photo and it presents a nice mood and smile. Jun 8th
60 Jun 19 Comment Beautiful image, Bill. The black background and touch of soft foliage work perfectly. Nice color and amazing focus/DOF for a f8 capture. The center is dramatic for it's detail and color. I wouldn't change a thing. Well done ! Jun 8th
60 Jun 19 Comment Nice capture. Great work following this guy around until you tired him out and he could pose (haha). I like the diagonal line of the body, adds a nice flow for the image. Backlighting really helps to show off those translucent wings. I see some detail in the eye and head that could be explored with a little dodge/burn. And maybe a vignette could tone down the bright fence a little. Love this image; I don't have good luck getting sharp images of these beautiful creatures. Jun 8th
60 Jun 19 Comment I agree that the downward facing really works for this image, really allows to viewer to appreciate the color and texture of the petals. And the flash really helped pull out the details and color. Maybe the green leaf in the upper right could be blurred a little to reduce its impact, or darken the upper corners to match the lower corners to keep the viewers eye aimed at the the bloom. Jun 8th
60 Jun 19 Comment Beautiful flower and well captured. I like the triangular shape which strengthens the composition and pulls the viewer in. And the color is great. I know what mean about sharpening, I fret over trying not to over sharpen but never know for sure when it's enough. For me, I would have darkened the background a little more but then I've accused on going 'too dark'. Jun 8th
