Hi Jessica, just visiting from Group 60. Like your image very much; we still have a Poinsettia sitting in our living room window and was just thinking to myself the other day that I should try to get a macro image before it fades away. I like the crop and off center presentation. And you've shown a part of the plant that not many people pay attention too. Well done ! |

Thanks Carol, yeah I kind of wanted to keep some white but also was going to try to fill in as I mentioned above Bill's reply. Did take several hot spots, don't know why I left that big one. And yes, these all came from my wifes button jar. |

Thanks Bill, I understand about the white space. I had several variations of the photo and had intended to try to "fill" the white space using a color fill layer and one of the Blend Modes but that changed the color and contrast too much. Could have spent more time trying to keep that effect off the the button highlights but just ran out time. I think there are ways of doing in layers but I'm not that profecent in that area. But, I'm not done with buttons yet. Will play around more; makes a good winter project. Maybe I'll post a follow-up if I come across something interesting <;-) |

Happy New Year, Will. As Denise mentioned, spider webs can be beautiful but challenging, I haven't had success either. I think you have capture the complexity and delicateness of the web. Too bad the spider didn't show up to take credit for the construction. I wonder if reducing the green luminosity on the cactus might bring out more of the web for the viewer. |

Very nice image, Bill. I like photographing Amaryllis as well, and I have never seen one this color. I agree the angle for this shot is perfect; has great depth, texture and just enough color. As Nadia mentioned, the black background really works for this image. |

Very nice capture, Nadia. Well done for a handheld close-up. I luv those Jaguar's. My uncle had one when I was a kid and I drooled over ever time we visited. You did a good job capturing that reflective hood ornament. Well balanced exposure with just enough highlites and shadow to give the cat a sense of depth. The bokeh balls in the upper left are OK in my book, but I agree the hot reflections around the medallion can be a distraction. |

Wow, nice capture Bill. You got a lot of the fine hairs nice and sharp. This Skipper looks like he is stairing you down. I like the orange background; I think some of that color is reflecting back onto the Skipper which complements it's natural color. I also agree that a little more image at the bottom would strengthen the composition. Also, maybe a very slight vignette would help pull the viewer into the image. |

Water drop photography is so fascinating. You have capture that moment in time, which the eye can't see. I like the purple and yellow colors, gives a nice contrast to the vertical water drop. |

Thanks, Denise. The back lighting does give things a magical glow. |

Thanks, Nadia I was hoping that thread would add interest and not be a distraction. |
