I like the brightened up area around the struts but then maybe too much light now went on the tire. Boy, I can't decide whether the gold rims, or the purple struts are the main point of interest. With 2nd one in front of me, I now think the whole tire and rim make for a better storyline. |

Thanks Denise, you are right, it still does lean. I straightened it once but apparently didn't go far enough. I think my eyeballs need calibration. |

Good suggestion, Bill. However, getting lower would have meant using my knees, which don't always work so well when they are close to the ground, haha |

l like your idea and I think you are right that maybe more photos in the stack would take you further back into your image with sharpness. I know what you mean about needing patience with focus stacking. What would it take to get the whole image sharp, front to back? 10, 20 images? I'm inspired by your work and want give it a try again. I think I'll wait for a day when there's a lot of snow outside, then spending a lot of time in the basement will seem a joy ;-)
Also, maybe cropping the out the out of focus area in the bottom of the photo and brighten that blue sprinkle would help pull in the viewer. |

Nice out-of-the box concept, Will. I like contrast between the blues an gold tones. Nice sharp image. Maybe pulling up the shadows around the struts might revel a little more detail.
True, the amount of cash folks spend on these customs is amazing but they probably say the same thing about photographers. <;-) |

Nice image, Bill. I love Christmas cactus, we have one in the front room that we have had for years, although the past couple of years it blooms more in January than now. Our has only one blossom. I like the angle to placed it in, helps the viewer focus in on the stamens, etc in the middle. Maybe a tighter crop might accentuate that focal point. |

Bill, I like your approach and the colors complement each well. I always have had problems using shallow depth and trying to figure out where the focus point should be. I admire flower shooters like Ann Belmont who always seems to find a point of focus that works. My eye is attracted too that yellow cluster in the middle which is a little soft. I can't tell if from the 2.8, or a little motion blur. I wonder if a higher ISO would have give you more head room on your shutter speed. |

Nice shot for showing your primary colors. Makes me wonder what all the graffitie means. There is a lot going on here and I wonder if it would help the viewer if you flipped the image around so the corner with the blue lines was in the lower left, lighten that shadow and then maybe there would be a leading line starting in the lower left moving up to the upper right. Mmmm, just wonder'in... something like the mod I tried. Does this ruin your intent? |
