Hi I am an aspiring macro shooter visiting from Group 60. Luv this shot; very sharp, nice soft background. Do like the vertical better, as well. As Stuart states, would like to capture images like this also. So, getting up early with the morning dew is a goal for next Spring. Well done on this image. |

Will - I went back and looked at my files but didn't have any long shots of the paperweights but this one might give you an idea of what they looked like with the window behind them and the backlighting. |

For sure Sony stabilization is fantastic. I luv that 90mmG macro, which I can hand hold pretty well until it gets down to 1:1 or closer macro, then there's too much hand shake to get those bug eyes in sharp focus ;-) |

Beautiful shot, Denise. I think doing monochrome is the perfect choice to focus the viewers attention on the petals shape and texture. And the lighting is great, right. Considering this was shot in a public garden where you probably didn't much control over the lighting. The NIK conversion is great; it's amazing that despite it's age, the software has stood the test of time. I hope the new updates will improve on that tradition. One thing, did you use a tripod? If not, congrats on having a steady hand for this image. |

Thanks Will, I'm going to go back into my library and see if I have a long shot that shows the paper weight displays. |

Here's the original file as I intended it to be; I think something got corrupted during the export/resizing process: |

Nice image, Will. Well done for shooting through glass which can be tricky. I like the back lighting which really adds to mood and mystery of the jelly-fish. The only I wonder about is, was there there more at the bottom that could have been added? But then, I understand that there is a trade off between getting in close and showing the whole creature. |

Fantastic image, Nadia. That PSA coarse sounds very interesting. I think the composition is great, my eye goes right to the bottom of the spoons. If the area behind the spoons were all sharp, I think it would weaken the composition. It's amazing that 32 images didn't give you the depth you wanted but it sounds like maybe one or two focus points where out of wack and didn't blend well. I've had this problem myself when doing focus stacking. I think it was a very creative touch using pink and polka-dots; makes for a very dynamic reflection. |

Nice capture; I know tracking these critters can be a real challenge. I eye looks good, esp. in natural available light. Nice texture on the wings. I agree with the others in trying to capture more of the antenna in your crop. Maybe if there is enough room in your original file, try rotating the image clockwise, and try to get your skipper as horizontal as possible; that would probably balance out his position on the flower and may end up a natural portrait perspective as Carol mentioned. |

Luv this composite, Carol. Lots of good work went into this image. I like the bubbles and the reflections they contain. Makes a nice leading line to the moon and mountains. I agree with Nadia that the blue color grading pulls all the elements together. And, yeah, that yellow scarf, he be 'style'in'. |

Thanks, Nadia. I think something happened to this image when downsized it and emailed it. Going to go back to the original and re-export it and see what happens. |

Those magenta pieces in the upper left were not part of my original image. Something got goofed up. |

Yikes, I'm seeing a distorted image here, like maybe my file got corrupted. Is it just me on this end, or is there some pixelation going on.
Thanks folks for the kind words, hope you're seeing a better image than I am. I think I'll clock out, reboot, and come back in, maybe things will level out. |
