Hi Jim
Just visiting from Group 60. Nice composition; everything looks sharp with well balance tones. Sounds like cool place to get some 'period' images. I still wonder how they ever manage getting around on those huge wheeled bikes. |

Hi Sharron
Just visiting from Group 60. Luv this shot, you've really capture the 'decisive moment' and you have a wonderful story that goes along with this image. |

Hi Allen
Just visiting from Group 60. Like this image; I find IR fascinating; need to give it a try. I like having the picnic table in the image, helping to pull the viewer into the composition. |

Thanks, Nadia. Those white fuzzies are so easy to over expose; wanted to get them right. I think that's another reason the Bee is so dark. |

Thanks Carol, I agree, the Bee is still in to much shadow. I tried to lighten it some. I will go back to the original RAW file and see how much more I can squeeze out of those dark areas. |

Yes, exactly Nadia, I here that a lot from photographers but sometimes when your culling the images and hitting the reject button..... it can be frustrating. Thanks for your comment (don't t t think I can really give up coffee hahaha... |

Love those vintage hood ornaments. Perfect composition for B&W. It's nice that you were able to get the face and the text of the Logo is good focus.
Just a thought on post-processing. I've used Nik software for awhile as well (hoping it's new owners do it justice). I'm assuming you shoot your images in RAW format? You might try making your tone and clarity adjustments in LR on the color image first, also try the HSL sliders in color. What would happen if you boosted the orange slider - how would that effect the monochrome look ? Also, since Silver Efex Pro does such a great B&W conversion, I would try letting that software do your conversion, don't convert in Lightroom. This might give NIK more data to work with during the conversion..... just a thought. |

Very nice Nadia; I agree with Bill, this is a well done image. I wouldn't worry about not getting the whole face, I think this profile shot is intriguing and really pulls the viewers eye toward those hairs around the eye and on her back. Luv that catch light in the eye; don't see that often with insect shots.
I'm blown away that you guys are getting these great images hand-held. I think I might have to give up coffee to get things that sharp. |

Wow, great image Bill. Amazing capture for hand-held. Such great detail in the eyes and wings. I really can't think of anything I would change; maybe the right lower corner flower is tad bright but hey, this is super. Another plus for using that diffused flash. Now, if we just had a third hand to hold everything.... ;-) |

Love those humming birds; have not yet been able to capture a sharp enough image that I like. I like the swing comp; it's different than we see for these critters. The water color is a nice touch, gives it a more dreamy approach. I agree with Bill on the front of the perch, darken that and maybe a notch or two on the chest highlights and swing whites. You've given me a good idea for how to treat hummers in the future. |
