Welcome to the group, Terry!
I like the composition, the leading lines, the repeating pattern of the cement blocks, the color contrast of red and blue. Nice.
Other than the halo, there is a little distortion on the vertical too. You might want to fix those.
I think that there should be more room in the picture. I like the very bottom block. But I would leave some room under that. So if your original picture doesn't have that space, I might go for Jason's crop. I might crop a bit on the left hand side too. I gave it a try. But I cut too much as to avoid cutting the windows. So seems not choice but go for Jason's crop. JMO. |

Brenda, you are the master of light painting. It is just perfect. The color and its contrast, exposure control, shape of the light, etc. All well done.

Hi it is a creative shot, and it is good to record it for good memory, which is one of the purposes of photography. Cheers.
I give it a try to re-crop it, but it doesn't mean it is a good crop. Just to play around to trigger more ideas. |

Hi Jason, what a nice spring mood picture. I like the color and the blurry. And I like the green negative space too. It is moody and dreamy picture.
I think that there is a room to re-crop the picture or darken the flowers at the edge, so that the eyes will go to the center. I give it a try, just to play around, not saying they are good though. |

Very informative cultural shot. Great. I am impressed by how you manage to get the shot in the situation, and how to do the post-process the picture, which correct the exposure etc. It turns out nicely.
The BNW conversion is done nicely, and the outcome is great. However, I might still like the colored version, as the color gives the contrast so that the eyes might focus more on the Holy Basil. It should pop up more in the colored version. |

Agree with Brenda that you are the master of night shots. Pretty well control on the exposure. Great work.
The only thing I would recommend is to darken the blue roofs a bit on the left bottom side. |

Hi ALan,
Thanks for your comment. As I respond to Brenda above, I select the color (mainly reduce the saturation) to try to bring in a feeling of unreal/surreal. I don't want to just make another colorful picture...
In term of change, I am thinking to bring up the red color a little bit. reason being, I noticed there are two characters on top of the front white builder. I hope to make it more notable, so that the city has a Korean mark. Also, red is the color of revolution, I think that Red should be another symbol of DPRK. I will give it a try, once I have time.
Thanks again. |

Hi Brenda,
I uploaded the original version without any adjustment. You can see that the sky is lovely blue. As I mentioned in my description, I reduced the saturation in general, to get an unreal/surreal feeling, as Alan had caught my mind. And I reduced the saturation of blue more, because the whole purpose is not to replicate the scene, but to show my feeling of the city...who cares the blue sky...LOL...with the sky not so blue, the viewer eyes will now focus on the buildings.
The left hand side...There is no room for me to crop any further. 2 reasons. 1) The gray area mostly is a park, with the lake, little rocks/mountain/temple/etc. If cutting it, it will be incomplete. 2) the dam...well...it is not dam, but the biggest stadium in the world. (https://www.archdaily.com/900152/the-25-largest-sports-stadiums-in-the-world)...I wish I can put it in the center... that said, I should not just put it close to the edge.
In terms of the color, it is a little worse than it looks at my laptop. I guess it is due to the compression of the 1M limitation of the file size.
I merged the files in LR.
For the trip. It is very safe...too safe in my opinion. The group has only 3 tourists, my wife and I, together with an Australian young man, and we have been taken care by 2 tour guides and one driver all the time. I wish to have some freedom to bear the risk of connecting to the local people though. Not much such chance. We did walk on the the street a bit, and took the subway for the allowed stops.
Thanks for your comment and suggestions. |

This is the original version. No adjustment at all.
Other than weakening the blue sky, reducing the blue color also reducing the distraction of the blue roofs...
