It was actually foggy that morning - this pathway leads down to the lake, and you can see the bright spot in the center background behind the man where the fog opens up a bit. I didn't add any blur or extra fog; it's how the scene looked.
I shot in RAW, so I imported it into Lightroom mainly to catalog it properly. In LR, I made some basic adjustments to contrast, brightness, and clarity. Then I exported it to Photoshop for cropping and used the Dodge Tool (around ±15%) on the area behind the man to enhance the light slightly.
That's about it - a pretty simple process. Also, I never throw away photos, no matter how "bad" they seem at first. Sometimes I revisit them later to practice editing or explore new ideas - I even mentioned that in my comment on Kathryn Bundy's post.
I use Nik and Tonality CK only for black and white work. |

This is a beautiful photo - it has a lovely analog feel rather than a digital one, which might be due to the older sensor from that era. I really like that quality. I still use my Epson R-D1 rangefinder (M-mount, 2006) from time to time - it's definitely slow compared to modern cameras, but the files it produces have such a rich, film-like character that I really enjoy. |

Beautiful shot - love how the fall colors glow here! Really interesting notes about contrast and brightness too. Phone cameras like the iPhone 15 Pro are great for quick snaps and catching the moment, especially for viewing on a phone or sharing online. But for more serious photography or making prints and larger displays, a real camera still makes a big difference in depth and detail. Thanks for sharing both the photo and your insights! |

Stunning and beautifully composed travel/documentary photo. The original is strong, and your crop enhances the focus perfectly. Thanks for sharing this wonderful image. |

I'm glad you didn't delete it! Even the original without much post-processing looks great. The black-and-white version works really well too, but the original has its own charm. I do the same - I never delete any photo, good or bad. I often use the less perfect ones to practice post-processing, and many of my most appreciated shots actually came from those! |

This turned out beautifully - the star trails look perfect, and the way you balanced the brightness of the barn feels very natural. Your attention to detail, especially fixing the keystoning and removing distractions, really shows. The result has a calm, timeless feel. Thanks for sharing and explaining your process - it's inspiring!" |
