78 Sep 25 Reply Thank you so much! I love how this sculpture surprises people who've been to Boston but haven't seen it - it's very new, installed in 2023, which may be why you missed it. Including the person in red was exactly for scale, and I'm glad the dramatic sky came through as well. As for the photo club rules - travel and documentary photography is all about recording and sharing someone else's work or landmarks. Rules can be useful to a point, but it really depends on the category you're entering. If I go to Paris, of course I'll come back with photos of the Eiffel Tower - and I've seen plenty of great images of it win competitions. It really varies from club to club and by category. Sep 29th
78 Sep 25 Reply Thank you, Kathryn! The main focus of this photo is definitely the sculpture - the woman in red is included mainly to provide a sense of scale. She's in focus, but because I had to upload a lower-resolution version (per the rules) it may appear less sharp. I'm glad you enjoyed the cloud treatment! Sep 29th

78 Sep 25 Reply Thank you so much for sharing the link to the sculpture 'Against the Stride'-what a beautiful piece of art! I love documenting landmarks from unique perspectives, and the sculpture in Amsterdam you recommended is definitely one I'd be excited to photograph. Thanks again! Sep 29th
78 Sep 25 Reply Thank you - I share your opinion about the stone ring; darkening it doesn't improve the original image.

78 Sep 25 Comment Mastering the panning technique takes practice. Your photo is a strong effort-keep at it and apply this approach whenever the scene calls for it. Good opportunities to try panning include moving vehicles, running or playful pets, birds in flight, and lively street scenes. Sep 11th
