Thanks, Dave,
Agree, I am also not a big fan of these rules.
Rule of the third is fine when learning the art and composition, etc., but the subject matter is also important and plays a big role in all images.
I like all the discussions here, a great platform to learn things that we sometimes don't see and the discussion we have here can sharpen our skills. |

Also on your remark, climbing the rock and see if anything interesting, well, there was, I will submit that for next month and can have some brainstorming on that too.
Thank you and all in this group for keeping me busy Ha Ha….

Richard,
Thanks for your views.
The main subject is Rocks and that is the reason to shoot at f/2 keeping rocks in focus and make clouds out of focus.
Let me see what I can do on your suggestions…
Here it is, slight recompose, a little crop and some cheating.
( Sky is added to the original image and try to balance the composition)

Abdo, like always your picture is great. And the expression on the face of both the athletes is well captured. Liked the pop in the image created by very smooth bokeh. |

Great image,
I would remove 3 small spots (birds) top right part and some processing on lens flare on the bottom right side. |

Focus stacking is very popular in macro photography. |

Agree on all points but the red door, to me girl covering the door is a good thing, otherwise, there will be two bright subjects, the door and the girl. |

Nice Picture.
I liked converting into Sepia, it creates mood and old look.
About empty roads: IMO, As this image processed to feel like older and timeless, empty roads actually add value.
White Border: To make it look more timeless, try making border darker or just without border and heavy vignette or burn edges.

Very nice portrait, I liked this look.
Much better than an originally posted image where the background was replaced and also tighter crop helps in overall improvement. |

Thank you Alan,
For more natural looking HDR, you have to start with 3 images, If I have to explain in very short then,
HDR and Tone mapping are two different techniques and used together.
HDR is by merging 3 images with different exposures to recover details in shadow and highlight area and keeping the natural look as much as possible and then the tone is adjusted to look image more pleasing. But If we start with only one frame, then basically what we do is only Tone mapping and that makes image over saturated and high contrast and some time that gives an unnatural look.

Thank you Jason,
The sky looks good almost like a canvas due to use of an open aperture f/2, agree with Brenda and you on all points. Thanks for working on the Image, appreciate, looks very good. |

Agree, dry plants on top is disturbing and need to be removed.
For the 2/3 horizon, yes, this is a general rule of composition and normally works. In this case, the image is centre heavy and taking most of the area and makes horizon secondary and is also not disturbing.
But 2/3 horizon will look good too if front sand cropped and also a tighter crop on both sides.
Jason tried both of your suggestions and image looks very good. |
