65 Mar 20 Reply Charles, I was remembering your email about the difference between closeup and macro - that macro was for objects that were very small and I was trying to find something small! I didn't want to repeat the 'dust' experience of a couple of months ago and that's why I went with the blue paper. I think I'm going to try another couple of photos with equally small (or smaller) items in the coming months. Thanks!! Mar 31st
65 Mar 20 Comment I'm always fascinated by water/droplet photography (or any high-speed stop action types) but I haven't been able to get anything at all like this. I love the blue of the 'water' (would never have thought of adding things to it!) but for me, I find the red contrast to be too harsh and it distracts my eye from the droplet. I'm bouncing back and forth and not focusing on the drops. But it's a striking photo! Mar 31st
65 Mar 20 Comment Charles, thanks for this! When I first opened it I thought it was a planet. I love how it almost looks like an aurora lighting effect. Was the LED on a pinpoint or more of a diffused focus? I've been doing some work with light through objects and finding that I can't quite get it to work using a regular flashlight. Mar 31st
65 Mar 20 Comment I love butterflies! This is a great shot with the two; I almost thought it was a butterfly prize fight. I think you've captured the colors wonderfully - that deep red is amazing. The only thing I find a bit distracting is the left side wing being slightly out of focus but not enough to seem intentional. But it does give the impression of movement. Is this the pixelation area? We have a butterfly pavilion locally that I've shot in once (before hours where we could use our tripods), they're great! Mar 31st
65 Mar 20 Comment I love the colors and the distortion caused by the bubbles. I would think that if you had totally clear water that the effect wouldn't be of a frozen item, but a floating item and it might lose some of it's impact. Another idea to put on my list of to do's! Thanks! Mar 31st
