thanks all! This was one of the first photos I ever processed in Lightroom and was still working out my "eye" for that. At some point, I'll go back and re-work it. |

Angela -- great shot of the butterfly (we seem to have a 'theme' this month!). I love the contrast on the wings and how sharp everything is on it. I do agree with Charles on the lower right hand corner appearing to disappear off with the black background, but I think it would work with a white mat or border if you're printing it. |

I love images that have a dark/black background so there's nothing to compete with the main subject. This almost has a painted feeling to the image and has a strong emotional feeling to it! George... what software do you use to combine the slices? I'm still struggling with the execution of my "stacking" attempts. Thanks! |

George! Welcome to the group! I like the photo, but for stock shots you might have changed the angle just a bit to lose the tree on the right and the odd two flowers above the red/white tulip. (i also do a lot of stock-type shots and am still learning what's the difference between that and my fine art stuff). I'll agree with Janos on the macro side of things; focusing on one of the flowers in detail would be great, as I'm having a bit of bouncing focus between the red one on the left and the purple/white one on the right. I've made an adjustment as shown here as to what I mean. Note: I've also deleted all your files/photos from my computer! |

Janos... i completely understand about the 'natural' setting for bugs and such and how hard it is to get the little things to stand sitll! I really like the photo with the changes Charlie made but love the original colors and vibrancy. The only thing I would have changed would be to increase some space at the bottom as it seems a bit "short" unless there was something weird there. Great shot! |
