65 Jul 18 Reply Thanks! I tried it on a dark gray velvet and a black velvet as well, but it just washed out. Lesson learned = black/white glass!

I rotated the flashlight around the subject while using a shutter release cable with the speed set to BULB so I control how long the shutter is open. I didn't use any filters over the flashlight this time though I've done that in the past.

I'll have to experiment with the stacking technique, hopefully that will improve the focus.

65 Jul 18 Comment I see now... it's a wraparound... I thought it was the flower. Initially I was wondering what it was "standing" on... :) Jul 26th
65 Jul 18 Comment I like the pendant and the placements of the wire and charms. On my monitor, I'm not seeing any of the yellow tint in the pendant itself and increasing that a bit might have made it standout a bit more. Agreed with the other comments on the focus and "rushed" feeling, but I don't mind the change in focus as it can highlight what you really want to emphasis, but should be dramatic enough to be deliberate. 65 Jul 18 Comment This is a great shot. (I almost used beads, too!). Thanks for the note on the base and the lighting. I love the effect in the lower left blue bead of the light moving through the bead.

And I'll have to look for the stacking document as well.

65 Jul 18 Comment I really like the reflections in the base (plexiglass? glass?) and the monochrome aspect of this, along with the design/placement of the seeds. I guess I'm too new to focus stacking because, on my computer, this looks great. Jul 26th
65 Jul 18 Comment I like the composition and the sharpness of the slug against the background. Definitely an interesting subject and not one that's normally seen. One thing that might help is moving the main object (the face of the slug) out of dead center in the photo -- either by including more of the slug body or changing the crop/composition to include more of the background. I like the background bokeh but agree that the color is too close to the slug - possibly doing an adjustment brush in LR or PS and desaturating that area. Nice job! Jul 26th
65 Jul 18 Comment this is lovely! The way you've composed and lit the shot is great (I actually like a lot of water drops!). I always struggle with my focus on macro shots and you've inspired me to try the stacking process. Jul 26th
