Thanks Bob - will actually work on the crop as I do have lots of room around the rose in the original capture - and yes I love my garden. cheers |

Thanks Will - I have 14 of these rose bushes and they are in the shape of small standards. Their colour is called 'Blush'. They are looking great now that is it spring over here. As for the image I might have to consider changing the crop. cheers |

Wow - wonderful capture Will. As Bill says - the eyes have it. I like that the background is unobtrusive and blurred. The detail you captured on the edge of the wing is beautiful. You used the available light to your advantage, I find that it has created some strong shadows and that, for me, adds to the impact of the image. I like the colours in the image - the red in the eyes, the touch of blue in the body and the highlight of yellow in the leaf - all strong primary colours on the background of green - very striking. cheers Nadia |

Great capture Bob. Love the fine detail of the hairs on the Bee and so very thoughtful of the Bee to sit on a magnificent striking flower for you. I agree with Carol's suggest of trying to use a ring light - or a soft box for the flash that is what I use and it does lessen the hotspot areas. |

Hi Bill - I just love the light and how you used it to strenghten the visual impact of the image. I like the strong light hitting the outside frame of the fountain, it is very stark and then you have the light playing on the water inside the fountain - shadows and highlights swirling in tones of ochre and blues - well seen. The bubbles add a lovely touch of fun and depth to the image. I also would have liked to have seen more of the top of the image. cheers Nadia |

Hi Bill, I like the detail and texture you captured on the stem of the mushroom - and good on you for getting onto the ground and trying out live view - the things we do for photography. I must admit I tidy up around my subjects before I take a shot - I have been known to remove weeds, cut out offending leaves etc just to get a clearer shot of my subject and sometimes the little pre clean up helps with the composition.
The bulk of the mushroom head seems not that sharp and I wonder if it is debris/grass that was in front of the lens when you took the shot or whether a smaller aperture setting may have gotten more of the mushroom in focus.
Also just want to mention, in case you do not know, that in Live View you can use the magnifier and for me that really helps with getting my focus pin sharp. You have inspired me to go out and search for mushrooms - that may be next month's submission. cheers Nadia |

Hi Carol, lovely shot. I like the strong lines created by the troughs. For me the viridian green on the troughs are my favourite part of the image. The colour is almost complimentary to the soft pink you captured in the sandstone in the top and far right of the image - very striking. The focus is on the first trough and I like how the other 3 then blur into the background. I suggest you consider cropping the image from the left and remove the pink top stone and maybe even play with removing the first little bit of moss - I wonder if cloning out the branch on the far right would work. As Bill says - very soothing. cheers Nadia |
