I like a photo that can draw you into the subconscious. What is the little boy contemplating? One cannot know what goes on in their minds. And the woman walking into the fog. Are we all not living in our own personal fogscape? Are we not continuing to put one foot in front of the other while protecting ourselves from outside forces as best we can while the child inside of us is quite often befuddled by this life. |

This image seems to be a good candidate for the processing style in Photoshop of Julianna Gospodarou. Larry Dunn went to her workshop and uses her techniques in his architectural images. The concept she calls envisionography has a philosophy which is very interesting for our times.
Have you looked into it? |

I wonder what was on the left of the original image. As I said on my page, my mind wants images to be 2x3 ratio. I'm curious. Could you post original image?
I love the varying textures in this image and think your posting is good before the Nik enhancement. |

I love the old world look of this image. It reminds me of India. The facecloth tells a story in itself without even knowing yours. Thank you for your story, though. It is interesting what draws us to an image. Our subconscious does the work before we even realize it. That's why it is a good idea to contemplate our images (and those of others)to better understand ourselves and the influences in our lives that still dictate who we are. Thanks, Lynne

I like this image composition and the smooth water.
My preference would be 2x3 ratio but as you described it was impossible given the big rock in the way. I agree with Stephen about the splashes. |

Here she is, smaller relative to nature. I used spot remover in Lightroom to get rid of the fence and backed off on the image to make her smaller. I also darkened that bright sky at the top and reduced the exposure on the entire image. Do you like this better? |

Here is another image which could be cropped to 11x14 but it makes the boy too big. He may be too big even in 12x18 but Little Boy Blue is the name of the photo and it is about his downtrodden look and the fog goes along with it. |

So, I like the idea of making my Lady with the Umbrella smaller relative to the nature around her, but the fence is too much to clone out and it is unacceptable to me in the image which is why I concentrated on the left side of the image. I also wanted to get rid of the bright light between the trees in the top center and to keep the attention on the fog which is most predominant below that bright spot. I could back off a little more. After your comment, Stephen the woman truly seems too big. |

Thank you all for the thoughtful comments! I've been engrossed in projects which are now complete, so I can think about your considerations and look at your images with full attention. I love this process!
I used the Lightroom luminance slider to reduce the noise a bit and then Define 2 plugin.
I'm interested in your comment about humans in nature, Stephen. The Asian idea you mention has caused me to reconsider several of my photos in the fog. I like to keep my photos 2x3 ratio because somehow it fits my aesthetic. |
