I like your idea. The negative space is nice and appropriate for the subject. If you simplify by using fewer leaves, with an overall pastel color palette, the Georgia O'Keefe influence would be prominent. As presented, to me the right side has no place to rest my eyes. I could not resist as abstract, so I borrowed the area used by Judith. It is a totally different concept from your image, but I saw quite a few similar abstracts. |

I completely agree with the above comments. Your comment that the image would not do well in a CC competition pushed one of my buttons, the one that essentially says: "my image has to please me, not some picayune judge." You could also have a lot of fun creating altered reality images from this image.

Mariann - A nice simple image that is a pleasure to look at and enjoy. From my POV it doesn't matter if you placed Saturn in, or it was in the original exposure. It is there and adds to the pleasure of viewing your image. Your entire image is the result of patience and recognizing what you had.
Thank you for sharing. |

Wow! You did more than capture the Duomo from a unique perspective, you have captured the flavored essence of Firenze in one image. Very well done. |

Judith - It's one of those images that holds my interest. You did a nice job in creating impact.
The subject is the tool. To my eyes I see very little relationship between the straw and the tool, so I prefer the version without a lot of straw. In ACR I tried the new blur tool to get more separation yet leave in some straw to keep your abandonment concept. An orange photo filter combined with contrast reduction gives a bit more age to the tool. A bit more background was added to give the tool more breathing space on the right. I join those who don't know what the tool is but, under threat of pulling out my fingernails, I would say it's a hand powered press. |
