Deberah - I like the clever way you created a ghost town. To my eyes, I would have increased the transparency of the former residents. Lots of room to play with that concept. |

Deborah, You can accomplish the same thing by using some of the sand placed under the boots on separate levels at different opacities. |

Angella,
Abstractions, such as you have been kind enough to share, have an independent artistic beauty that stands by itself. My personal belief is that CC judges who say: "I don't know what that is," are either too insecure to admit that they appreciate abstractions or conflate realism with abstractions, impressionism and pop art, etc. In the case of your image, it has a beauty all its own. I don't understand your concern about centering. I like your image as presented. I also like Bob's suggestive variation. My standard for abstracts is whether I like it. I think that good abstracts can be the basis for another decent abstract. My proof is easy, just look at the sky on a cloudy day, or at some reflections from one bent sheet of mylar. |

Sam,
Thank you for sharing. Your innate sense of design has popped up to tell us that there was one enjoyable party at that location. My first thought on seeing your image, was please invite me to the next party. You did a great job in dealing with a difficult background. If the subjects were tack sharp, you would have lost the painterly look. I have just two suggestions: put a bit less shadow at the right bottom; and a thin guideline around the image so it's easy to see the dark image against a dark background. |

Thanks for your thoughts and comment. The image is OOC, converted to BW in processing. Your version gives a more 3D look than my version. You have given me some good ideas. I will play around and see what happens.
