Well done. Before writing this comment I read the other comments. I like the repetition; you have created an impression of a chain gang. I would think that inclusion of actual chains would weaken the image. Chain gangs are boring and every day is repetitive. Your repetitive use of the same, or similar people tells this story. Therefore, your decision is appropriate for this image.

Good advice. The artist should always go with what they like, except for a piece designed for sale to a particular market. Our comments here are intended to be only suggestions for consideration. |

Lauren- I'm not sure what you mean by "echoes." Oo you mean clones of the original placed at various points in the image, with varying sizes and/or transparencies?

Gerrard- One of the disadvantages of getting old is "senior moments." I opened the original file, and discovered that I had reduced fill on the painted layer: overall by 12%; and on the gold center only by an additional 28%. The newer versions of PS make masking very easy. |

Karl-Thank you for your remarks. Sometimes there are images that work better with a close crop. e.g. see my image in Group 65 submitted for April 2020. RE: flipping, The American Flag is hung with the stars on the upper left. |

Until I joined a CC, I made images simply as relaxation. After my first five years in a CC, I realized that creating images to please some unknown judge is not my thing, and if I submit an image for competition, I enter what I like. I continue to learn and get inspired from my CC activities. A stock image publisher recently talked into putting a portfolio together. I made a mistake with this image. It should be revised to 9/4 ratio.

Lauren- I love it. You did a beautiful job. High key can be challenging, but your image shows that you overcame the challenge. |

Liz, nice, well composed, delicate image. the two plants are on a diagonal, which gives a feeling of motion. I don't think that you need three plants in this image. I wish that the image had more contrast. Try using two conversions, each on a separate layer: a high contrast blue and the method used on this image. The HC blue will take all the delicacy so you will need to play with opacity and blend modes on each layer, until you are happy with the result.

Karl, Powerful image. Please excuse me for not commenting further. Like many others who live in the metro NY area, I know and knew too many people who either suffered long term mental damage, or death from that horrible event. |

Judith, very creative and a very strong image. I like the way the background flows out of the blood. I also like you use of negative space. You are image reminds me of a bride with her long dress. I wish that there was a bit more separation between the bud and the petals. Very well done. |
